Usage: universally fits bikes with:

Good bike trailer

Bought this as it was the cheapest I could find. Wanted something to put groceries in so I could combine trips to cheap supermarkets with some training miles. Expectations were low due to cost, but the product seems to be pretty well built. The skewer is pretty poor quality and doesn't clamp up very tight. I fitted the trailer to my Dolan Cross bike which I use as my winter bike. It has vertical drop outs so wheel cant pull over - I don't think the skewer would hold the wheel with horizontal drop outs. I have loaded the trailer with just over 12kg of shopping and it was OK, though it looks like it flexes, so doubt it would take 35kg if you are riding quickly. I was holding 25 to 30mph on some of the faster sections and the bike was handling fine. The wheel bearings felt gritty out of the box so I popped them out and treated them to some grease which should help them last.

I Read the reviews previously posted and have been pleasantly surprised. Build quality is fairly good only 1 missed weld and on a non stress point. The rest of the welds are good quality (I'm a welder and wouldnt want to make it for this price.) I've had no problems with quick release either although I am fitting to a tandem mountain bike with a 160 mm rear axle. It should work for smaller axles too, the qr provided with mine had more than enough thread to work on a new (anytime in the last 15 years) 130 or 135mm rear axle which are standard on most road and mountain bikes. Very happy with the product tows well so far did 60 km on it last night with 15 kg in and had a better feel than similar weight in panniers. Only advice is to measure your rear axle before buying if your planning on using the quick release attachment. Even if your bike axle is to small (less than 130mm) it could be cut and rethreaded at most decent bike shops or diy using a threading tool (£7 ish on eBay).

Do not buy if you have QR wheels.

I bought this on the recommendation of the previous reviewer, in preference to the other cheap one, by Tectake, also on Amazon, which has terrible reviews concerning the extended skewer for bikes with quick-release rear wheels. The other reviewer must have a solid rear axle, because the Tectake criticisms also apply to this product. There is no way that the extended skewer can work with any QR wheel, so do not buy this product unless you have a solid rear axle on your bike, or are prepared to either pay about an extra 15 quid for an alternative skewer, (sjscycles.co.uk do one that looks like it will do the job), or spend some time making up a fitting of your own. The rest of the trailer is OK.

It's £14.99 which may make you think spending a little more on the trailer is worthwhile. I stand by my comments on the original skewer - it is a faulty design, the other reviewer must have a different one.
