The sheer wealth of the research that has gone into this work is stunning;it is the best book on this period that I have ever read.
Thoroughly recommended to anyone who is interisted in this period of history.

Paul Howard Lang.

Format: Hardcover
The content covers the three main campaigns from the logistics of the authorities of the established monarchy both civil and militarily but also places it in the context of earlier uprisings. This gives a fresh view of the whole matter as up to now this has been a field where the history has been set by the losers. One problem with this book is that the need to compare the '15 with the '45 in all aspects leads to some confusion as sometimes both appear in the same paragraph which means some bits have to be read twice for clarity (especially where the same family title fought on different sides in the main rebellions). It is worth the effort.
