I've had several pairs of 'wireless' headphones before like the Anker SoundBuds Slim and two pairs of Powerbeats. I've also used wired headphones like every human with a working pair of ears and 2 cents to rub together.
- The freedom
I cannot emphasize enough how unbelievably good it feels not to have wires hanging off your ears, you will be amazed at how light your head feels.
This is not unique to these however but is more a benefit of true wireless headphones in general.
Where the uniqueness for these comes is that they're light for what they look like so minimally invasive, very little jangle and quite a nice fit, if you're willing to try out different sizes of the earbud and casing which takes about 10 mins to fully do. I took these on several runs and have yet to have any problems with them with regards to size so the form of them is good out of the gate.
The battery Life on paper sound almost tiny 3.5 hours. But in reality any minute they're not in your ears your more than likely putting them in the case. In the week I've had them, I have had literally no problem charging them and they've never run out of battery in my ears.
My only problem with the case is that it snaps closed almost too quickly (which is a nitpick).
+Customisable size and fit
+Case is super useful and Great Looking
+Little trouble fitting.
+No Problem while running.
- The Tech
Right so first off the sound quality, is good but not amazing. I think if you're buying these you're buying them simply to listen and enjoy rather than critique the music in your ears. That said, the audio is a little bit crackly at the upper levels and when heavier rock/ EDM takes over it seems to be crackly then too. Simple volume issue and I don't want to go deaf anyway but might be a problem for some. Audio aside, I had no trouble pairing these straight out of the box, never had a connection issue with them, and the smart Bluetooth is great. So the connection is a plus but nothing special, pretty standard for Bluetooth appliances these days. The heart rate monitor is immensely useful while working out and is very accurate with almost no difference to my chest strap. Now that said the only problem I have with that is that it doesn't record through Samsung Health and I have to record that separately, Support through their app Jabra Sport Elite is quite good and it links with Strava which is a useful touch. Problem with this is quite small, their app's support is extensive but not limitless so small gripe that it doesn't cross-track with other apps but once again that feels like a nitpick.
All in all, if you're looking for a headphone that's reliable, free of wires, and won't destroy your bank account with few technical or physical issues, these are for you.
+Good support for 3rd party apps
+Relatively good audio (if you're not an audiophile)
+Good Bluetooth connection
+Battery life is good (with and without case)
-Audio isn't the best in existence
-Not all 3rd party apps are supported for fitness tracking
-Small so if you're careless you'll be prone to losing
-Time-consuming to find the right fit.
Besides the app connection which is quite important they feel very comfy, they come with 3 sets of different sized earwings , these ensure a perfect and comfortable fit. Then there are 6 sets of ear tips, 3 x gels 3 x buds all of different sizes , the gels give a much better audio but for me I found them uncomfortable as they expand in the ear which is a shame as they are so much better sound quality than the standard buds. You can change the equaliser but only in the app , again useless if you cant connect to the app in the first place.
Sound quality is mediocre, nothing to wow you but its ok for the gym etc. I used them in the gym and they didnt budge one bit so are very secure and comfortable.
I am yet to do a fitness test with them but will update after a few more weeks of use.
They dont come with a manual so you will need to search online for the pdf version.
The fit is great (especially with Comply truly wireless foams), the audio is as stable as previous wireless (joined) earbuds and the connectivity is seamless especially the on/off when taking them in or out of the case. The case itself is small and shows battery status of the built in charger as well as the buds.
Final test tomorrow...go for a swim!
I decided to try these, based on HR monitoring, total water resistance and an extensive iphone app.
The quality of the box and product was good, the charging case was heavy and well made.
I found good fits with the three sizes of tips and wing tips, both foam and rubber types are of good quality.
During runs (10k), I experienced no movement at all. The HR tracking was accurate, constant and did not drop off and the earphones were compatible with 'PEAR' fitness app (fantastic, I don't need to wear a chest strap anymore).
I tracked the accuracy of the HR with both a Polar heart strap and a Wahoo Tickr, it was comparable to both and in most cases there was little deviation between the three systems.
Sound quality is comparable to Bose Soundsport, bass however is considerably less responsive, these are totally wireless, while those were bluetooth wired, so perhaps this is endemic within this field. I have not yet tried Bose true wireless, it would be interesting to observe if the bass response in these is as good as the bluetooth wired version. My score:
HR tracking 9/10
Water resistance 9/10
Sound Quality 7/10
Firmness in ear during exercise 9/10
