Lewis Carrol's work, written for children, return to one as an adult as a fascinating nonsense selection which make a lot of adult sense looking back on a long life. I am reading them again at 85!

English Nonsense poems have a long and distinguished history yet somehow, in the 1860's, they found two of the greatest exponents of this peculaily eccentric, quintessentially British genre.

And who were they?

Why, Edward Lear ('The Owl and the Pussycat', for example) and Lewis Carroll ('Alice in Wonderland, 'Beware the Jabberwock' etc.) both of who died within a year of each other.

Both of these authors are well represented here. If you like wit and wisdom, word-play, crazy characters and surreal humor then this book is definitely for you.

But watch out for slithy toves!

This book is wonderful. It answers a lot of questions after watching Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland movie which, despite being wonderful was so far removed from the Alice story it left me feeling rather confused.

Contains lots of the poems lewis carroll has written over his life not just from the Alice in Wonderland, really confusing, but still really good!

Bought the book as a present for someone who loved the alice in wonderland novel and they really enjoyed it. It was smaller than i expected but it was just what i was looking for. Great book for a great price.

You have to like nonsense - if you do, this is wonderful. All children should be introduced to such poetry and language.

Says it's illustrated but it's not. Text all fine though. Good value.
