Wasn't expecting too much for the price but these are stunning! Lots of talk in the reviews about heavy bass, I don't know about that because I usually listen to drama / audiobooks (fuddy-duddy) but I am seriously impressed with these - great sound quality. The ear contraption looks a little big but it's not heavy and stays in the ear perfectly. People also reviewing the packaging! - simply use a pair of scissors, don't cut through the cord and you'll be fine (or get your mum to do it for you!). Might buy myself a second pair of these as backup before the price increases.
( Just an addition to this review May 2017 - I found that while standing still the ear piece was fine, but while out walking on rugged ground they tended to fall out. I solved this problem by accidentally putting the right earpiece in the left ear and vice-versa - they stay in perfectly now!! Still impressed by the quality of these)

Incredible sound and value for money. More bass heavy than sennheiser 300, probably lose some sound in the middle but separation Is astounding , I once even looked around when I was listening to a play and a doorbell rang - in the play. Quite comfortable too although the back end sticks out so not great for lying down. Have had them for a year now and have not disintegrated and even if they do you have lost just over a tenner rather than £30 that high end headphones command.

They were bought for my son. Arrived the next day as I would expect as a Prime member. He said they were comfortable and sounded really good. He is fussy about sound so if he says they sounded good, they did.

I bought these to replace the second pair of Sennheiser CX200s that have started falling apart within 18 months.

Criteria for me are good quality of sound and good quality of sound exclusion with the in-ear bit (I live in London and so use the Underground a lot and don't want to bust my ears by turning up my music to ridiculous volumes!).

It does the sound exclusion bit well, and they certainly seem more rugged and well constructed that my sennheisers. However, I WILL be returning to my Sennheisers in the near future, since it's quite clear during a direct back to back comparison that these headphones do indeed lack balance in the sound they give out.

Bass output is excellent - so they don't actually contradict themselves or their major USP, but like another reviewer said, they definitely lack middle and the 'body' of the music.

I listen to a variety of music, including a lot of rock and metal, drum and bass, other electronic forms etc. I've tested these with some liquid drum'n'bass and the lack of balance is glaring. Haven't tried rock and metal yet.

I suppose however, that at half the price of the Sennheiser's quoted above, these still represent pretty good value for money.

These are the best value headphones I have owned and continue to use. I have used and broken others by Bose, Klipsch, Creative and others but when it comes to in ear headphones these suit my taste. They are quite bass heavy for in ear head headphones and have a good volume level being noticeably louder than many others I have tried. Dance and Rock music sound great but not sure they would be suitable for the detail in classical music but I never listen to that! One thing to watch is it is possible to push in the ear buds too far which ruins the bass and makes them sound tinny. As it is with many in ear headphones a good bass sound is dependant on finding correctly fitting ear buds and to this end these headphones are supplied with 3 differing sizes as well as a plastic case to keep them in. They may look a bit brash but the build quality has been fine so far after 9 months and I do use them as my gym headphones so they do get quite heavy use. Great value especially at the current Amazon discount.

Extremely comfortable, and the bass is ace (see what I did there?).

However, as others have pointed out, the sound elsewhere is lacking, especially in quieter/softer parts. I'm by no means an audio guy, but even I noticed this.
Prefer them to my (superior) SoundMagic E10 set, but purely because they hurt my ears (due to being metal).

These plug your ears well and secure, have a long and decent length cord and come with a handy box to keep them in to stop them tangling. I keep these in a bag with other things and the box becomes a perfect companion. Not once have they become tangled. These drown out the sound better than any others I have tried. I have just bought my second set.

The cable is nice and thick so it just feels like its got better quality and it doesn't flex and fold as much as cheap earphone cables which is good.

It fits perfectly in your ear and is really comfortable for hours of use.

It has very good noise isolation, it isnt perfect but you can reduce the noise of walking past a heavily congested junction with barely a muffled noise which you don't even notice with the music playing at a relatively low volume.

The Bass is simply unmatched by any other earphones I've come across. I normally have to turn down the bass because it can sometimes prevent me from making out the lyrics because of the heavy bass beat in the background. But if you want Bass, these will certainly not disappoint.

Recently though one of the rubber ear pieces began to come loose, so i glued them both on so they don't fall off in the future, but it comes with a box that you can store the headphones in - but that's kind of tedious because you kind of need to cram the wiring into the box and it isnt practical for storing it away like that every other hour or so.

All in all, Nice Design, Amazing performance, Comfortable, Lives up to its Xtreme Bass Unique Selling Point & Good Build Quality.

September 2013 Update:

My second pair of these earphones have stopped working as you have to move the wire at the port end of the cable in a certain position to retain the exceptional audio quality.

As both of my earphones stopped working after 10-11 months of use, (note that I am not reckless with them) I think it is safe to say that these headphones are made to last about a year and then break so we buy another pair from JVC - A suspected obsolescence method to make us buy it again and again.

These earphones are absolutely great but my next pair will not be these, hopefully the next pair will last more than a year.
