Product description

Exceptional resistance, long stride & incline features will deliver weight loss, fitness & toning results. The adjustable stride length system (16- 20") has 5 different stride options. Four incline options let you vary the stride path to focus on different muscle groups. The higher incline levels offer an intense cardio challenge.

Our patented design allows you to use the full range of incline & stride length independently whilst remaining 30% smaller than its competition.

19 workout programmes include heart rate controlled, intervals, sprints, endurance, fat burning & fitness tests. The heart rate chest strap (included) & heart rate programmes auto-adjust resistance for a more effective workout. You can also design your own workout on the programmable console. The large colour display provides constant workout feedback: time, distance, speed, calories, pulse, RPM & programme profile over 16 levels of magnetic resistance. Multi position ergonomic handles allow resistance control & pulse monitoring without stopping your workout.

Bought it 1 year ago. Machine is a perfect choice for home use and is closest to professional one you can get. With a heart strap exercise is absolutely amazing. And very important JTX customer service - I had a problem with magnetic resistance and after quick call to JTX very helpful guy promised to contact with engineer to fix it for me. Next day engineer cat me and arranged visit in next 2 working days in suitable time for me. Really nice person and in two days my machine is working perfectly . Really recommend .

We wanted to have a piece of equipment to get us moving and this is doing the job, it is great value for money, lots of programs, we thought we were reasonably fit as we walk the dogs for 2/5 miles a day, but because it is a total body work out it was a shock and we are building up our fitness level which is what we needed. I would recommend this to all, low impact, start with 3min work outs and build up at your own pace. Delivered so quickly and very helpful couriers who carried it to situ as it is very heavy!!

Very sturdy and quiet machine. Many programs and features to keep you motivated. Even works with Google maps apparently but I've yet to try that feature. Comes with a chest heart rate monitor.

I bought this machine in august and waited to write my review.

PROS:
The machine comes in easy assembly packages with each step having its own set of screws, nuts and washers so you just can not go wrong.

You can have up to 5 people stored in the machine for weight/height/age etc..
Program mode selection is a choice of Manual, Program, Fitness, Personnel, HRC and Random. Each one of these has about 20 programmes of variations.

As well as the programs you can also set your own level of resistance up to 24, I started on 14.

The machine is very easy to use and very very quite.

CONS:
The manual doesnt go into any great detail about each programme setting to use so I have stuck with Preset Program setting 1.

The Heart rate doesnt seem to work often, if your hands are dry then it works ok.

These are the only faults I could find, but would still give 5 out of 5.

I am male 6'2" and 46 and have not exercised for over 8 years.(4 stone over weight)
I have used the machine for 3 days on 1 day off principle and started with 15 minute sessions and 14 resistance.
3 months later and I am doing 30 minute sessions at 18 resistance while covering 3 miles+.
I have lost 2 stone and love using this machine and yes I still eat what I want.

Would recommend to everyone. :)

I've had my Smart Stride 21 for about a month now, i wanted to use it for a little while before i reviewed it so that i could give better feedback, and i'm glad i did because it means i get not only to review the cross trainer itself, but also the customer service from JTX, and the brilliant warranty that they offer.

The cross trainer arrived very quickly after ordering it, and it took me a few hours to assemble it, it was easy to put together and the instructions were very good and easy to follow, and everything needed for assembly came in the box with the cross trainer. It was quite a lengthy process, but not a difficult one.
It is a nice piece of equipment to use, and i found that the gait is very similar to that of one of the expensive cross trainers in the gym. It has a very smooth action, it actually feels much more like a gym style cross trainer than a home gym one, but it is also really compact and takes up very little floor space, best of both worlds!
I noticed that there was a slight a problem with my cross trainer as one of the pedals was rubbing against the fly wheel. I contacted JTX by email, and within just half an hour they had diagnosed a bent part, organised a replacement part to be delivered to me, and arranged an engineer to come out and replace the part under warranty! If that isn't outstanding customer service then i don't know what is! The engineer who came out was very polite and friendly and quickly fixed the problem, and he checked I was happy with it before he left.
There is no doubt i would recommend the Smart Stride 21 to anyone who was looking for a great home cross trainer, however the only thing i would say is that if you are very tall you might be better with the Smart Stride 23, as my partner is 6'2" and wishes that he could make the stride just a bit longer. I love this piece of kit and wouldn't hesitate to purchase from JTX again, brilliant!

Delivery to upstairs room excellent - good communication. Relatively easy to assemble - mostly intuitive. Using equipment for one hour daily as parts of our 3 hour home-based workout. Very smooth running machine and provides excellent on-screen info. Love the incline and resistance levels which helps us keep fit for the Scottish Hills. Highly recommend this product.

I have to write a review for this cross trainer as I used to be a gym member a few years ago and always used the cross trainer in the gym but have got to a stage where I want to work out at home instead for ease and time factors. I also wanted a low inpact trainer as I have plantar fasciatis and can't do classes or high impact workouts.
I spent a lot of time reading reviews and looking at all price ranges and star ratings. I have to say that JTX smart stride came out on top with all 4 and 5 stars and nothing below even though it is half the price of some more well known makes. As I am only 5'2" I choose the smart stride 21 which is perfect.
I ordered directly from the company purely because I needed a specific Saturday delivery (£15 extra) which Amazon don't offer otherwise I would have ordered direct from Amazon.
Delivery arrived and I would stress that the box is VERY heavy. Make sure there are two people to move/lift it as almost impossible to do alone - weight is about 70kg. If it needs to go up steps or floors it will be a problem unless box and its contents are taken apart.
Although big and sturdy it does not dominate the room which is quite useful as I have it in my lounge.
Notes on construction as follows:
THe instructions are quite basic and take a bit or working out although logic does prove to solve most of it and as you get going it all becomes clearer. Make sure the stride adjuster (one of the first steps) is put on the right way round otherwise it causes a major problem at the end when trying to fix other connections. Also, the wires from the stride adjuster need to be out of the end of the fitting at the square platform end where the console eventually fits.
