Clutch fans will no doubt be aware of this band, as they've toured with them extensively, are signed to their 'WeatherMaker' record label, occasionally feature that great band's (one of my favourites) guitarist, Tim Sult (who's unique wah and delay use appears on some track - he played on some songs I believe) and have had their drummer (Jean Paul Gaster) produce this album.
Whilst Lionize are definitely rock, they are difficult to place in one sub genre. My best attempt would be : if you took Clutch, Deep Purple, Led Zep and quite a large amount of reggae in a blender and sprinkle a bit of Black Sabbath, you'd get Lionize!
There are many great riffs here but rarely do they steal the limelight from the overall melody of the song, this is deliberate and well executed, and that is not to say the riffs are second best, they are very classy and sound great, it just appaers that the vocals and melody are the songs' priority.
There are great songs galore here, and you can justify arguing that any song is the best. My personal favourites are : 'Breather,' 'Jetpack Soundtrack,' 'Replaced by Machines,' 'Reality Check' and 'Skynet,' but trust me, each track is brilliant, and the epic, heavily reggae-influenced closer 'Sea of Tranquility' fades this monumental album out nicely.
Lyrics-wise, Science-Fiction, Man v Machine and the future of the human race seem to be the most common theme as illustrated by such titles as 'Replaced by Machines,' 'Evolve,' 'Amazing Science Facts' and 'The Terminator' name-dropping 'Skynet.' I do however get the feeling that this band has cleverly woven in some more extra meanings to tbhe songs that are more than meets the eye, but I'm not clever enough to figure them out!

Great CD. Saw them supporting Clutch on the UK tour and their live performance prompted this purchase. A lot of Funk/blues influence and a great groove to some tracks.
