JAcOB is a British-born businessman, a persevering musician and a romantic at heart. He has journeyed, with depression as a constant companion, for more than 30 years. A past nutrition and fitness enthusiast and current adventurer, JAcOB has been writing song and verse throughout this time and, other than a few songs recorded for charitable purposes, has kept all his writing under lock and key in a dusty folder ... until now.
In 2013, JAcOB began to collate and compile his poetry and diary entries and realized that he had produced a body of work that formed a poetic autobiography. The series of stylized poetry 'The Ramblings of My Madness' was released in 2015, comprising several volumes, the first three entitled 'Love and Loss', 'Blood, Tears and Injustice' and 'Different Time, Different Place'.
The series title is duplicitous in meaning, for JAcOB has journeyed far and wide, solo-climbing mountains and visiting some of the darkest places both on Earth and in his mind; from his perspective he has been fortunate to survive. He seeks sanctuary behind his pseudonym to ensure he can share the honest reality of depression in a safe environment.
JAcOB is a prolific writer who challenges the questions of life and relationship with humility and humour. Even in the depths of depression, JAcOB aspires to communicate that there is always a thread of hope, no matter how slender, a shard of light even in the blackness.
JAcOB also writes a weekly blog on his website justanordinarybloke.com where he further explores his journey.
