With a huge grin, Alain de Cadenet powers the glistening black C-Type he's driving through a dusty track in the hills of California, and introduces the long-awaited Victory by Design Jaguar show. This is a definitive show for lovers of thoroughbred Jags. All the important milestone competition and production cars are featured. The cars are taken to locations in the US and UK and driven and appraised by Alain. Many of the cars featured in the legendary Victory By Design series were strictly built for racing and were never seen in commercial showrooms. Shot in spectacular widescreen photography by award-winning filmmaker, Tony Maylam, and his team of specialist cameramen, the action is then enhanced by Dolby Digital and DTS 5.1 Surround Sound. This brand new show will give the Jaguar enthusiast a real chance to appreciate the beauty and power of the Jaguar heritage and the marque's place in automobile history. Among the important cars featured are the first XK120 to win a significant race (with Stirling Moss driving). One of only two special magnesium-bodied racing XK120's he LT2. The most original and authentic surviving Le Mans-winning D-Type. The oldest surviving E-Type (chassis 003). The first race-winning E-Type (chassis 005). The last E-type made. The prototype racing E-Type, the E2A. The unique XJ13 and Lister Jaguar Coupe. The Le Mans winning XJR-9 and the last Jaguar supercar, the XJ220 and its competition sister, the XJ220C. If the action and Jaguar history doesn't grab you, then the full-on Jaguar sound will!
The gorgeous machines parading before the cameras in the series of six DVD's called ''Victory by Design'' are well beyond the means of almost everyone in the intended audience. Offering histories of six famous marques (Ferrari, Porsche, Aston Martin, Jaguar, Alfa Romeo and Maserati), the producers have collected dozens of precious racecars that would inspire techno-lust in any Sunday driver. But perhaps because the series originated in Britain, it is voyeurism on a transcendent plane, with a racing purist's emphasis on technical innovation and track performance. But one special feature of these DVD's, elevating them above the many books and magazines on exotic cars, is the sound quality. As any racing fan knows, the ear-splitting noise of the track holds as much appeal as the flash of engineered metal past the grandstand. With Dolby Digital 5.1 and DTS Surround Sound, you can adjust your speakers to pick up the bass rumble of an Aston Martin AMR1 and or the alto whine of the V-12 engines that are the voice-print of a Ferrari. This is a great film. I love hearing Alain's descriptions of design and engineering how they work and advance.
You can hear them, see them, and almost smell them. He goes right up through the ranks. Shows the car, the engine, and significant developments. Car after car, and their place in racing history. Delightful film for any enthusiast.
