On the plus side, it is very easy to read through in a few hours, and there are some occasionally interesting bits of information (esp. of biographical nature).
If you are looking for in-depth research or analysis, look the other way. An example of the rather flippant approach to making a case is the following, regarding a visit by Tolkien to his son at Ribble Valley in Lancanshire: "Tolkien visited him there and may have drawn some inspiration from the surrounding landscapes when writing the Lord of the Rings, but many parts of England may have influenced his writing as well" !!
Bottom-line: The book seems to have been put together in haste to capitalize on the release of the Hobbit movie. It might just be ok if you only have to pay about one pound (as I did, during the sale), but certainly not worth more than that. There are better things on Tolkien out there, and you can probably find more information on him by using Google and Wikipedia...
