Flt Lt Trotman undertook his maximum allowed quota of missions and sorties in a Wellington bomber (including many at maximum risk) and then unbelievably volunteered and repeated the dose in Mosquito pathfinder squadron.
Considering the law of averages dictated that you'd be lucky to survive 4/5 missions, before being blown out of the sky!
One can only barely begin to imagine what must of been going through this brave man's mind when taking off in the dead of the night heading for Germany.
Earning not one - but 2 flying cross's, Flt Lt stories include landing in Northern France after both engines failed after a bombing mission in Germany - after his navigator had bailed out!!
This is a book that once picked up, is not easy to put down!
I particularly enjoyed reading extracts about Shropshire during wartime.
The book also chronicles other locations Flt Lt Trotman served from' such as Norfolk and Farnborough Hampshire amongst many others.
Other highlights in the book include the chilling 'sixth sense' of Flt Lt Trotman and numerous accounts of terrifying aerial combat.
