I did enjoy reading this book but I found the first half to be very frustrating and ironic. The irony coming in from Waverly being a free lance advice columnist and yet she is very indecisive and critical about her own relationships with her friends, Dad and boyfriend. Waverly makes many faux pas which in the book are called 'Waverly moments'. The frustration came with the indecision, I don't mind when a character can't decide on a few things but when it's continuous I do start to think "come on get a grip!". However, all changed half way through the book for Waverly when she started to 'grab the bull by the horns' and this is where the direction of the book changed and I wanted to keep reading to see what happened.
The book is a very easy, girlie book to read and the observations are good, it is obvious that the author has written from own experiences with some of the antics that happen. That said, some parts which were supposed to give a bit of suspense didn't really shock as it was quite obvious where the story was going. Not sure if there is going to be another Waverly book, there doesn't really need to be one as this does have a happy ending with no loose ends to tie up.
If you don't know who Waverley Bryson is by now then shame on you and double shame if you haven't discovered Maria Murnane yet. I read about her on her website and can only applaud what she has achieved by truly believing in something she loves. I read that she is working on a third novel at the moment, I can't wait for the release of that. Love this book, if you are thinking of buying it, don't think just buy.
The story was captivating but light enough to keep me interested from start to finish. I didn't want it to end. Not much brain power needed to store details that may be needed further on in the book so this makes a fab holiday read.
