"Dublin - in all its splendor and grit, poetry and profanity - is once again brought to life by Martha Long s irresistible voice. Her many trials and tribulations are no match for the fierce determination and wicked sense of humor she so deftly deploys. Brew up a strong pot of tea and get ready for a wild, often dark but always inspiring ride through 1960s Ireland." --Tom Deignan, Columnis, Irish Voice, and author of "Irish Americans"" --This text refers to the Hardcover edition.

Life really is a bowel of cherries.
Please Martha if you read this, hurry up with your next book, cant wait to find out how she eventually gets herself of the streets, it has got to be one of the greatest sucess stories ever written, how anybody could pick themselves up from such a bad start in life is just unbelievable.
She is an inspiration to us all.
God Bless you Martha, you are my hero.
There has to be another book and anyone who has read the other two will love this one, for all the hardships she faces and conquers martha still manages to keep upbeat and make her story not a miserable one!! she really is a special lady and i pray the next book is out soon i want to know how she managed to overcome all the adversity in her life and become the success she is today
It should be easier to work out the order of the books than it is though.
I've bought the Kindle editions and you cannot tell by the date which order the books should be read in.
By looking at the reviews and reading the blurbs I worked it out, but it would be easier for Amazon to number them.
I like Irish fiction and have read all the ones by my usual author.
I used to spend holidays in Dublin with my aunt and cousins. She actually worked in the Cafolla cafe which is mentioned a lot in these books. For all I know she is one of the waitresses in the books, although she ended up managing the place.
We used to go in for a knickerbocker glory when in Dublin.
I recognise the road names, but at least twice it seemed like Martha Long was writing the book with one eye on the Dublin street atlas. There was so much detail about where the girl was going.
There is a lot of long drawn out description in other parts of the book as well, along with some repetition.
Some parts are a bit implausible as well, e.g. how she only once ran across 2 of her brothers in Dublin. I was expecting her to accidentally meet her mother and Jackser any minute.
Despite this, I am enjoying reading the books, especially as it is so easy to order and read on a Kindle.
