Certainly this book contains thousands of Italian phrases and idioms, but does not seem to show which are common phrases in everyday use ,which are obsolete ,which are rude or not used in polite society, so for me it is of limited use.

Quite a useful dictionary of idiomatic sayings. Probably more useful when you are reading Italian than writing it. It is by no means comprehensive, and does not include proverbial sayings to any great extent. The small grammar section seems redundant. There is a good index both for key words in Italian and an index of common English expressions. All-in-all, a useful addition to a dictionary, though good dictionaries do include idiomatic expressions and are probably more comprehensive.

This book has a detailed list of Italian idioms and an index of English ones which cross refer to the relevant Italian idiom. Very useful.

I bought this for my son who speaks good Italian. He loves it and says it really does help you along if you want to sound local. Sadly he learned his Italian in Sicily and so his accent is really heavy, this goes some way to helping him out.

Very amusing book on Italian idioms, they really do have these sentences in their vocab.
It amuses us Brits who live in Italy and the Italians who we read them to! A must.
