I love music and I am sure you do, which is why you are reading this review. This album unfortunately is one of the reasons not to buy abridged, 'The Collection' of this or that... The producers have chopped off vital parts of the original tracks in here to fit in more tracks.
As an Isaac Hayes fan, you know the tracks are long and thats how you want it.

Hence this cd is a disappointment. Case in point, I Stand Accused is 4:06 on this cd, this is a fantastic track in the original at 11:32... Go figure... Buy Original albums on cd even if it has only 4 tracks it will be money well spent.

Sorry for the epistle ;-)

Even though some tracks are cut, it is worth any penny you spend on it. Don't let your icecream melt while you listen to it.

HASH(0x8cb4ad24) out of 5 stars The best single disc collection of his earlier years 18 Jun. 2012
By Rykre - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Audio CD
This rare out-of-print British Import CD has all album versions of his best known hits and album favorites.

All except his track "I Stand Accused" which doesn't have the opening dialogue like what he's done with "By The Time I Get To Phoenix" which is a track that it would not be tolerable to have shortened.

The full version of "Theme From Shaft" opens the collection, which is followed by the full 15:56 minute version of "Joy", which has all the charm of listening to a long sexy love-trance like you'd probably expect to hear from Barry White.

This collection does not have "The Look of Love" or "Do Your Thing" which were his other fairly familiar tracks from his 1969 to 1973 era. But, for a CD collection of Isaac Hayes at over 72 minutes long, it is the best complete collection that I've seen out there.

I've seen Isaac Hayes collections with all these songs and more, but who likes listening to butchered down 45 RPM versions of any artist? Not me.
