The Irix 15mm F2.4 Firefly Nikon is designed for full-frame Nikon FX cameras and offers a minimum focusing distance of 28cm. The lens is technically identical to the Irix Blackstone, but the housing is a made of other material. The Blackstone is firmer and finished with precious materials. The Firefly is particularly suitable for photographers who are on the road a lot and therefore not want to take along to heavy equipment. The lens is provided with a ?neutrino? coating to exclude any kind of ghosting, color aberration, and flare as much as possible. The lens consists of 15 elements in 11 groups. The construction includes three elements with a high refractive index (HRI), two with an extra-low dispersion (ED), and two aspherical lenses which are responsible for minimization of distortion and aberrations. In addition, this construction offers a significant improvement in image edge clarity and overall image quality. The manual focus ring feels slightly less high-quality than the Blackstone but provides a good feedback. The Irix 15mm F2.4 lens is designed to deliver the best optical performance for high- quality full frame SLRs. Features of the Irix 15mm F2.4 Firefly * Lens focal length 15 mm * Focus Range 0.28 m (0.92 ft) * Aperture Range F2.4 -F22 * Lens Construction 15 elements in 11 groups 3x HR, 2x ED, 2x ASP * Also available for Canon and Pentax K

I am not going to write an in depth technical review of this lens, other people have already done that and I found nothing to disagree with in their largely favourable conclusions. In short it is very good value for money and produces excellent pin sharp vibrant images. Obviously it doesn't have autofocus so if you plan to shoot moving subjects with a wide angle look elsewhere.
I bought this lens because I wanted a good quality full frame wide angle lens for occasional landscape photography. Since I have to carry it I wanted small and light, which this just about is. I use it on a Nikon D750 camera.
The metering works well on the D750 giving nicely exposed images. The manual focus is smooth and if you use live view, and fully zoom in to focus you can get pin sharp pictures pretty much edge to edge. You do get some vignetting, but in real world it doesn't matter unless you plan on shooting architecture wide open. Since I tend to use vignetting as part of my output anyway I can honestly say it has zero impact for me and if it was a problem I would just increase the ISO and go to upwards of f5.6.
The Firefly is well made, solid but fundamentally plastic. However I don't plan on using this every day and in all weathers unlike my pro lenses. If I did I would have bought the Blackstone version or probably forked out for a pro lens with autofocus at four times the price. As it is very happy with this, I already have some great images and expect to get many more.
Minor gripe, the weird end cap isn't as good as the more usual style, but the lens cap is solid, which is more important.

Happy it takes a UV filter to protect front.
Happy it will take gel filters in back too.
