Really disappointed in this book, it's basically a very poorly written mills and boons type romantic???? novel trying to encroach on the horrors of the kidnapping, murders, rapes and abuse of Irish slaves in Barbados and adding in a bit of supernatural powers and gypsies, voodoo and black slavery, mixed together in a cement mixer and then tipped into a book as a form of literary vomit. Example.....a 10 year old lays in vomit and faeces in the hull of a ship with her dying (prophet empowered, just realised they were cousins) best friend whilst her mother (reincarnated lover of the captain) lays in the captain's cabin, bathed and glamorous, sipping whisky and reading Don Quixote by candlelight..... All for the good of the other kidnapped slaves..really?😂even worse was the author's attempts at writing in an Irish accent and replacing thanks with tanks, but especially annoying was replacing you with yew ...they are pronounced the same!!!!! what a load of tat. Must admit I kept reading as it was sooooo bad I could only hope it got better...NO it didn't.

4.0 out of 5 stars An enchanting story of love and conquering adversity. 21 Sept. 2016
By Evie - Published on Amazon.com

Utilising the clever genre of 'historical fiction', an author takes a fact and weaves a fictional veneer around it. This talented writer, made it almost impossible to tell one from the other.
In this accounting, the reader learns about the horrors inflicted upon living beings (here, the Irish), during darker days, when the human slave trade, openly prospered.
The characters were alive in my mind's eye and as the plot unfolded, I found myself unwilling to put the book down. Life however, gives you no choice but to participate. Now, having said that, I found that I would hurry back to reading, 'Ireland Calls My Name', with that urgency you experience, when enjoying a good book.
I'm very much looking forward to Ryter Rong's next publication.

Ireland Calls My Name had me captured on the first page. The book talked about slavery in early Ireland history. What impressed me the most was how Ryter brought out the human spirit. There were time of terrible circumstances but some characters never gave up and kept fighting for their futures. The book brought out tough love even though it hurt them. Romance blossoms in trouble times. This book illustrates hope no matter what. I loved the book and would recommend it to all people.

Ireland Calls My Name kept my I interest from beginning to end. I could not put the book down. It's so interesting to know not only the blacks were slaves yet that's all that's focused on in this country. How can human's be so ugly, brutal and monstrous to each other!!!!. I have read a few books involving slavery and never will I understand the cruelty!!!!
Great job Ryter, I loved the book , worth the wait!!!!

This is an incredible story which uncovers a history most don't talk about. The writing is exactly what I look for in a book. It's just fantastic all the way around! The story is compelling, the characters are well developed and complex, the feel of the book is wonderful. I can't wait to read more from Ryter Rong!

Ireland Calls My Name was a very interesting book and I couldn't put it down until I was finished. It was very hard for me to read because of the historical accuracy of the slave trade of the Irish as well as the blacks. It breaks my heart to think people can be so evil and so full of hate for another human being just because of the color of their skin. This book is very well written by a very talented and beautiful young woman. I highly recommend it to anyone and everyone.
