I have to admit, except for Iron Man: Demon in a Bottle Premiere (Invincible Iron Man) this is the only Iron Man title I have read and I find it hard that I will find anything better. Ever since the movie starring Robert Downey Jr., there has been a major world wide love for Iron Man and I hope that fans of the film will read this title as it is pure brilliance contained on a page. Contained in this hard cover edition is issues 1-19 or what is contained in the paperback volumes 1-3.

The first story is about Obadiah Stane's son, Ezekiel, who is determined to destroy Tony and Stark industries itself. Ezekiel is everyone of Tony's five nightmare's in one person and appears to be better than Stark in almost every way possible, even having his own suit that posses a real risk for Tony. As enjoyable as this story was, it didn't compare to "The Most Wanted" storyline that stretches throughout the rest of the book, it ties directly into the dark reign storyline that was the main event at marvel; but the most surprising thing was that I, a person who has very little knowledge of current comic events, could appreciate and enjoy this story more than the first arc. It manages to use the happenings in Dark Reign to give Stark a real threat whereby he has to delete his own knowledge so that superheroes can be protected from Norman Osborn. When I initially heard that Tony Stark was going back and using his older models of the Iron Man suit, I rolled my eyes as I just thought it would be a marketing technique that I don't fully understand. Although that was before I read what Matt Fraction had actually done and it really made sense and didn't feel cheesy for one moment.

I am an old school Kirbiyesque Marvelite. After the revelation of Extremis, I had to follow up with Iron man omnibus one and two. The artwork is glorious and there are many plot elements in here that surely will creep more and more into the feature films.

I had high expectations on this book. The quality is amazing, the stories are well done and the art is phenomenal. I love the hard cover in red and golden title. Great item for anyone who likes to collect comics.

I haven't read any of Matt Fraction's stuff before but he clearly qualifies on the basis of this alone as one of a fine cadre of writers working for Marvel. There are two major storylines. They are separated by events which happened elsewhere in the Marvel Universe although a synopsis is given. It's to do with a Skrull invasion, the rise to power of Norman Osborne and Tony Stark's fall from grace. The main plot is one where the hero is progressively weakened as his enemy's omnipotence is matched only by his insanity. I suspect this plot device goes back to Alan Moore's Marvelman. It kept reminding me of it anyway.

As far as Salvador Larroca's artwork is concerned...Perfect.

I agree with everything the other reviewer said although I'm not sure how easy this would be for someone new to the character or genre to follow. Some familiarity with the character and Marvel Universe would help, I think. It is probably worth reading the 'Iron Man, Extremis' volume before this.

Anyway, if you want to treat yourself or the love of your life (missus), then buy this.

This is really cheap when you think about how many books are in there. This works out cheaper than buying the books individually and is a great read for Iron Man fans.
