As for the watch its the usual quality that Invicta are famous for. This is my second Invicta and as I left the first one in a gym changing room,I knew the only watch that could replace my lost watch was another Invicta. It just looks class on the wrist, heavy and chunky,as good quality watches invariably do but have the look of an expensive timepiece.got an 80% discount so got £500 watch for £80!!!result.
I have to congratulate amazon on their lightning quick deliveries.I have also recieved 3 pairs of trainers, home cinema kit for my laptop andsome cables that have all reached me in the last couple of days.Good work fellas!!!!!
Then to removing the links having decided I was going to keep it. How to do that involved googling a video on the net (but the suggested paper clip idea does not work as the clip bends rather than the links popping out). So I found a fine bradel and so popped the links, after some very healthy taps - using a small hammer on the pins against a carpeted floor. Look out for the arrows on the inside of the strap to ensure any pins are knocked through the right way or it could be the ruin of the watch. Out of interest I rang a local watch repair shop who would have charged about a fiver for what I decided to do (stubbornly) myself. Took me an hour to get the size right though (never having done this before).
Its a beautiful watch, maybe the date window could have been bigger but the feel of the polished black stainless steel strap is lovely to the skin. Its a classy classy watch, I love it, I only wish I could persuade my wife I needed another in another colour, but this watch should last for years (I hope).
Buy one, but unless you have a REALLY fine Bradel please spend a few quid to get the strap sized professionally (or you can buy the tool for link advertise on Amazon perhaps ?). Perhaps Invicta should issue them with the strap sized for the averaged size of wrist with 3 spare links and pins so you could have the option of ADDING them rather than being supplied with a watch big enough to fit King Kong as standard ???
A beauty of a watch, black, different, classy, an expensive feel.
10 out of 10 - HTH. Late Nov 2012
I paid less than £100 which is what I was looking for on this occasion. I work in an environment where everyone is brand aware and I was looking for something which did not look out of place on a budget I have worn the watch for 2 days and had 4 people comment on how nice it looks (asked twice what make it was also).
The watch arrives well presented in a nice box so would look great as a present it also arrived very quickly and I did not pay extra for postage
A couple of things not great are the date view is very small so on the 21st I could hardly see the 1 however on the 22nd it was visible again. There is a very slight lip between the glass and the chronometer which you would not have on an expensive watch, it's not noticeable to the eye but I you can feel it.
All in all a very good value for money watch for under £100
However, it is a very handsome watch without being either too large or bling. Even my wife liked it and she hates all my other black plastic Casio G-Shock watches and my Seiko Chronographs.
In terms of feel, it's reassuringly 1970's heavy, it has the presence of some of the more expensive watches of that era although, with the best will in the world, it's RRP of £500 is just silly. It's probably worth about the £90 I paid, but no more. The strap is a nicely muted black, it does give off a gloss but the light doesn't reflect off every link.
The big plus as far as I'm concerned is that the strap actually fits me! Every watch I have is either on the last hole of its strap or I have to have two links added. The single downside is that the date doesn't have a magnifier on it, in fact it's so small I didn't realise it was there at all, no good at all for my dodgy peepers.
It's Christmas Day 2015 and I have printed out the RMA labels to have it returned and a refund issued. For the simple reason that the date is illegible I may opt for something else altogether, or I might just pick a different Invicta model with a magnifier, but I won't get the handsome black with gold bezel. I will update this report when I resolve everything. But don't let what I have said put you off, this is a very good looking watch and makes a statement i.e. 'I'm not trying to be a Rolex' as so many cheap watches try to do, and fail miserably at.
