I don't expect the earth at this price but I expect a watch that says 20 bar (which is at least 100m) to survive a swimming pool.
I could have been incredibly unlucky with 3 watches but I can't help but wonder hwo many reviewers who gave 5 stars had had the watch for 6 months or more
1) The bezel is really hard to grip and turn due to its Omega inspired design and the bezel seems to fit very tightly to the case making turning it a real pain.
2) The lume, like most Invictas is terrible. The hands glow well enough and so does the bezel pearl but the hour markers fade very fast and cannot really be seen at night. The lume also does not hold a charge, if Seiko lume is a 10 then this would be a 2 maybe 3.
3) The strap is not great, not the worse I have seen but really not great. Feels a little cheap, my opinion of course but Invicta could really have done a better job with the strap. But put on a NATO and it really changes the feel of the watch and NATO's are really cheap and you could have a different looking watch every day.
Apart from those flaws the watch for the price is a very good buy, its unobtrusive, looks more expensive than it really is and looks well dressed down or with a suit. The movement is reliable, I haven't tested it for accuracy but it seems to keep good time and is out about 10 seconds a day, which for a watch at this price point isn't bad at all. For those brave enough you could adjust the movement yourself to bring that down or get a watch maker to do it for you but to be honest for everyday wear it is fine as far as accuracy goes.
All in all a nice watch made by a much maligned watch maker and a nice change from their usual over the top designs. It comes in a nice box, the standard yellow Invicta one and is nicely presented. I have had this model for a few weeks and so far so good. For the money you really cant go wrong.
It came in a nice sturdy bright yellow presentation box which is great when you buy this watch as a present for someone.
This watch is chunky and heavy and comes with a magnifying '' lens'' over the date, i like this retro look.
The strap is quite large and i suppose this is to allow the watch to fit over a wet suit.
I will get a link removed, this should be OK after that and not a real problem.
The strap is a mix of brushed and shiny steel links with a sturdy adjustable clasp fastener.
I will wear it for everyday use and looks good when wearing for work or out and about in the countryside and not so expensive that you will be frightened to wear in case you damage it ( if you know what i mean ).
I choose the scalloped dial as its a bit different from the usual divers watch dial and since i don't intend to SCUBA dive this is OK.
If you are buying a watch for someone or as a treat for yourself, you shouldnt be disapointed with the Invicta watch
Quality: I was surprised at the quality of this watch. The materials used look to be very good quality. The strap is robust. Over the 4 week period, there is just 1 small mark on the strap, where I've caught the watch. How the materials wear over a couple of years will be the real test.
Accuracy: The watch is running 1 minute slow per week. This is acceptable for a cheap automatic watch.
Water Resistance: Seems ok. Not tested it by swimming etc, but screw down crown looks like it will help meet the water resistance claims.
Date: Rolex has DateJust mechanism, this watch doesn't. You winder has 2 pullout positions, this first adjusts the date. I adjusted the date, but found it was 12 hours behind, so had to forward the hands 12 hours to correct. No problem really, just an observation.
Watch Display Box: comes with quite a nice box.
Overall: I have given this watch a 5 star rating. I blew my expectations out of the water - as its good quality and accurate. I have no hesitation in recommending it.
