It's a really attractive watercolour style, and this introduction is suitable for all levels of experience from beginner upwards. I've been teaching watercolour for years and I learned from and was inspired by this little book.
The demonstrations and examples shown are all landscape paintings. It would be nice to see some examples of other loosely painted subjects - still life or portraits for example. Perhaps a sequel? I would buy it.
Highly recommended. Buy it and get your paints out.
For the price, it is much better value than buying an art magazine in my local store.
I have painted in watercolours for a number of years, but this is the first time I have attempted to paint without first drawing the scene.

Techniques are too complex as an introduction. That aside, for the relevant level of watercolourist this is a decent bookPublished 1 month ago by P. Appleton
I liked the explanations at the beginning and as you go through the book, it basically explains what to practically do as per the title.
The style may not suit everyone . Read more
I mistakenly bought this as a kindle edition rather than the paper back I thought I was looking at. My error - difficult to judge in b/w and on a kindle screen. Pity..Published 6 months ago by MG

Not really quite what I expected. It's ok but would have liked a bit more explanation. Didn't always like the finished paintingsPublished 16 months ago by Amazon Customer
