The second chapter is very poorly written. While the author does state early on that the book is not solely for the learning of Python and is, as its title suggests, more about computation generally, it does a bad job on both accounts. It seems rushed and does not go in depth on either topic (Python or computation/programming) and so the reader is left with a sense of learning very little of much substance by the end of the chapter.
The questions/exercises in this book are few and far between and are not rigorous in any way. The code examples that are given often only hinder learning when they contradict what is written in the text (or just wouldn't work in a Python 3 shell full stop).
I'm not sure if this book can really be recommended to someone who wants to learn about computation or Python as I feel it fails on both. This review would be longer but I need to find another book which has some actual substance to it.
