I had to stop reading after the drama became too ludicrous and the hero and heroine lost my respect from their lack of common sense and integrity. When it's OK to have another female rub the hero's penis (over the trousers) at a meeting because you need a business deal to go through, all as the heroine whom you've declared undying love and devotion to and "made love with" sits beside you in the booth with friends. I'm done. When the heroine thinks about how difficult his day must have been to lead to this type of pressure then sleeps with him. I'm done. I'm sure it would work for some readers but not this diehard romantic. The writing was OK but could definitely be improved by laying off clichés and giving the heroine more intelligence and wit when it came to her love life.
The promise is good, the freaky mystic makes me smile but oh boy do I want to castrate Ethan especially after the Stacey at dinner incident. oh and eww he touches Olivia's face after not quite agreeing that he knew there were no knickers under that dress!
I have downloaded book 2 but not sure how much of Olivia I can cope with. She needs something and not sure her soulmate is enough.
Sometimes it is what is right in front of us that we fail to see and I have to say that this is the case for Olivia, because Mr Perfect is front and centre and just begging her to take the final step.
Who you may ask, well no not Noah, it is the delightful Ethan. He has bumped into her a few times and is desperate to get to know her better but can Olivia finally take the plunge?
Terrified of what having a fully-fledged relationship could mean, Olivia settles on a compromise, a friends with benefits situation that she thinks gets them both what they need. How misinformed she is because this non commitment scenario is far from what Ethan has in mind- he wants her completely.
The situation between them is complicated and at time completely convoluted. Olivia is difficult for Ethan to get a handle on and much of that is down to the fact that she changes her mind like she changes her knickers! Honestly the man deserved a medal!!!
Ethan on the other hand finds that the only balm to soothe his temper is Olivia, and when he discovers her past he goes out of his way to show her just how important she is to him. But they are both guilty of keeping secrets, all they need is to open up to each other.Read more ›
Ethan, what can I say but where an I find my own gorgeous Irishman who can dish out such corny lines as ".. Being around you seems to calm my inner turmoil" and yet they sound, and are so sincere. And with a wonderful accent to boot.
Olivia is struggling with demons from the past, allowing them to control her present and until she meets Ethan her future., there were definitely times when I just wanted to shake her and say get over it, while at the same time understanding why she acted the way she did. We can all be so unsure of ourselves that we listen to others and allow their opinions to sway our actions.
This is all written in the third person, that's the reason for the four not five star, sometimes it just misses the mark on this. Third person is extremely hard to write and becoming less popular, most of the time it's spot on but in a few scenes it's just not up to par. But overall it well written and you certainly become invested in all the characters, Rachel and Scott, Meagan, John and Shannon, all become alive and you become a part of their lives. And now I'm anxiously awaiting book two of the series.
I received a free copy for an honest review.
