Product description

Product Description

Intel's 4th gen processor codename: Haswell offers superior performance over the previous generation Ivybridge by up to 10% clock for clock. This astounding performance boost results in performance improvements in multi-tasking, encoding, gaming and multithreaded applications. Intel's 4th generation processor has improved PCI-Lane 3.0 bandwidth which helps further boost performance of latest generation 3 graphics cards for the ultimate gaming experience.

For overclocking enthusiasts, Intel's 4th gen CPU has improved memory overclocking support, with up to and beyond 3000MHz possible with the very best memory kits. Memory bandwidth is critically important to Haswell compared to previous generations. High frequency memory performance significantly improves encoding, gaming and benchmarking tasks.

The biggest leap in Intel's Haswell processor is the onboard graphics which is now up to 2.6x faster than previous HD4600 found in the Ivybridge CPU. What this means is these latest processors can actually play the latest games in HD with low/medium settings applied. Of course if you want to experience True HD gaming at maximum details then a dedicated graphics card is still a must.

With Intel technology, you step into a heart-pounding experience. My first computer was ZX Spectrum 56k. My second, a Commodore 64. Third, Amiga 300. 4th, Amiga 500, 5th, Quad speed Win95, 6th, Win98 P4 1.7Ghz. 7th, AMD Phenom ll Q4 955 3.2Ghz. <= (excluding my laptops)

What can I say. Other than on paper, I now realise I have had more computers than I have relationships ! :$
Which may not say a lot for my chatup lines, but hopefully it will my coding ones!

Moore's law is still upheld, in principle. And, as long as we [mankind] don't annihilate each other, the future can only be bright. This is a great processor, capable of computations I only dreamed about as a boy. (I'm 35)

I am from the home PC generation. I used to study my 'BASIC' coding book for my spectrum on Saturday afternoons when I was 7. I now develop software for various companies as well as motion graphics.

I'm not keen on the K versions. I don't OC. It worked straight out of the box with a new Gigabyte Z97-UD5H-BK. I swapped the stock cooler for a BeQuiet Dark Rock 3, and runs cool and extremely quiet.

100% recommended for staggering stability and performance for professionals and enthusiasts alike.

The best high end CPU for your money. The retail boxed processor comes wit its own heat-sink and fan. I used thermal paste on top of the layer already on the back of processor to ensure tighter contact.
Very pleased I paid the small price difference to buy it instead of iCore 5.

Upgraded to this from a i5-4460 and you can tell the difference.
I used to close games to ensure I wouldn't have any FPS issues when playing other games, now I can have any game open and running in the background without stressing about the CPU not being able to handle it.
It's perfect, can handle having open anything you need without worries or concern, would recommend.

If you're going for a new build, it's hard to recommend this particular CPU since Ryzen is just around the corner on AMD's end and Kabylake Intel CPUs are out right now. That being said however this is one hell of a CPU. As a video editor and gamer it has seriously helped me out since I bought it a year or two ago, coming from a mid range AMD build.

Spend the extra money and get the 4790k, it will stay relevant longer and is only ~£20 more. Much better value for money than this. This is still a decent processor though.

This is a very good cpu and provides everything the press reports that I read said it would. I have a separate graphics card, so have not used the cpu graphics. I expect this cpu will keep me going for several years before I have to upgrade.

Great chip!
This is a great processor all round delivering great power with reasonable power consumption.

I personally recommend this i7 if you are a pc gamer or/and a firstish time editor with rendering performance being great for the price and socket.

Pros&Cons

PROS
Greats stability
Good temperature distribution
Very reasonable price
Very powerful for the price

CONS
Can not overclock and that's about it for cons that I can think of off the top of my head.

To summarize
Great performance for a non overclocked processor. I recommend it for gamers and editors that don't have the budget to upgrade to skylake and is all round a good addition to most systems.
