This is a high quality accessory for the Intel Reader product. It enables easy use when out and about due to the high quality build and easy set up/pack down. The unit arrives in a semi-briefcase style with an solid carrying handle and simply folds out and clicks together. It takes less than a minute to set up and the self evident operation means that even partially sighted users can get it up and working in a very short time. If I have one complaint it's that this unit doesn't come with a shoulder strap or anywhere to attach one, and given that it weighs nearly 15lbs it can get tiring to carry about for any length of time.

This is the stand which is designed to be used with the Intel Reader. It is a very nifty product considering the whole thing folds down into its own briefcase! Having said that, I wouldn't like to be carrying it around as it is rather weighty. While I didn't get any instructions as to how to unpack it (others may be different), it was all very easy to assemble except for trying to get the arm for the reader lifted up although, after pushing a few buttons it allowed me to lift it up into place. Now that I know how it works, the whole thing can be assembled in 10 seconds flat.

The reader itself then slots into a specially designed slot, and the stand itself comes with an adapter, presumably to charge the reader while it is attached. The reading material is then placed below a plastic strip, which is a simple as lifting two plastic arms, slotting the book/magazine in, and lowering them down again.

Other than that, there isn't much to say about the stand itself other than it looks and feels well made and would make a good addition to the reader, so that you can sit back and relax while it reads to you!

The Intel Portable Capture Station is for use with the Intel Reader, allowing pages to be captured more accurately than just holding the pages to be scanned.

The first thing you notice is that the unit is very heavy, not something you will want to carry around for long, even with the thoughtfully included case. The station is very sturdy and of a very high quality and built to last for years. The Reader can be charged via the unit which is good additional functionality.

The question is whether this is good value for money. You could get the same effect with a DIY solution, but companies or charities buying the Reader would probably feel that this is a good addition and would be of benefit, particularly if the Reader is used by a number of people.

So, overall a sound piece of equipment at a premium price.

This came to me for a review but as it came without the reader I can only say that this is a well designed bit of plastic that I am sure that when combined with its other part would be great -but I can't really be sure!
