I bought this product 2 years ago and have only got around to reviewing it now, but I'm still using this CPU to this date. It works very well as a budget option, however, be aware that you may be limited in the future if you buy now due to the older Haswell architecture in this chip which requires an older LGA 1150 motherboard.
As of now, the CPU is still working great, even under gaming workloads such as some use in VR. Naturally, you will not be running ultra settings at 1080p or higher, however, you should still be able to run games fairly well on medium-high settings when paired with a good dedicated GPU. Due to hyperthreading, this CPU will still do well in games that would normally require a quad-core processor as it has two virtual cores.
For light use in a family computer, this CPU would be excellent for a cheaper build as the onboard Intel HD Graphics 4400 should be fine for web browsing, basic word processing and other light productivity tasks. It could also see use in other light scenarios such as a home theatre PC.
Overall, this CPU was good value for money at the time and still holds up well today.
