A Touch of Class 10
5 out of 5 stars
A Touch of Class 10
This is a Class 10 SD card, and I strongly recommend buying a class 10 or better card when it comes to SD cards, even if it's just for portable camera, mp3 player etc...the 20mb/s transfer speed makes a significant difference over slower class alternatives and the price difference is now quite small.I have uploaded HD tune results for this card which confirm real-world transfer rates of about 17mb/s which is good for such a card.Did you know you can use such cards to speed up your computer on Vista and Windows 7?This works by using caching (copying) the windows page file (the memory that Windows uses which is too big to fit in RAM)from the Hard Disk onto the SD Card. While hard disks are fast at retrieving data which stored in succession, they slow down a lot when the data is scattered around the disk (rather like when your cd player needs 2 seconds when you flip between tracks). In my case, my hitachi laptop hard disk which can read at about 51mb/s slows down to a paltry 2.8mb/s when accessing random files scattered around the disc (observed using HD Tune benchmarking utility)ReadyBoost works best on computers with hard disks running at 5400 or slower with no solid state modules. How to use ReadyBoost with SD CardsYou need an SD card slot (ideally NOT connected via USB) & Windows Vista or Windows 7.Buy an 8gb card (the faster the better, at least class 10), then select the readyboost option when the autoplay prompt comes up.Select the maximum amount of cache size (4GB) for best results. You can use the remainining 3.5 gb or so on the card for other data. With ReadyBoost enabled Windows will use the cache on the SD card for small random reads.I've tried readyboost with this card and it works, but if you experience issues your favourite search engine should be able to churn up some answers to the most common issues. What performance increase can I expect? You should not expect wild jumps in speed, but you should notice the hard disc "churning" less (e.g. of hard disc churning is when system slows with hard disk light blinking when you refresh several web pages). Searching for ReadyBoost in your preferred search engine should yield articles describing how to measure readyboost utilisation in Windows Performance Monitor for those so inclined.

For most people with compact cameras this card will offer storage for thousands of photographs; or an hour or so of HD video for a very reasonable price. I have a couple of them and they have been reliable and well made (i have had a cheaper SD card Snap in half when i was trying to insert it into a card reader before.

If you have an SLR that uses SD memory you may benefit from the faster still Sandisk Extremes if you are taking 10's of photos a second; but in my Fujifilm W3 it comfortable stores 3d HD Video and 3d stills keeping up with the camera. The Integral Ultima Pro for a reasonable price; will likely store over a thousand images from your camera and when you come to transfer those images to your computer you will likely feel the real benefit of the better than average for SD speed this card has with images quite quickly.

When I originally got my digital camera it came with a 4GB class 4 memory card, but I did not know any different until I read the manual and saw that at least a class 6 was recommended. So came to Amazon and found this 16GB class 10 for a very good price compared to anything I could find locally. I put into the camera, formatted and it has worked flawlessly. I can not say confidently how much more responsive the camera is taking photos, but for the odd video I might take is certainly is quicker to save. Also I tend not to connect my camera using a cable, I find it quicker just to slot the SD card into a slot and this too has worked without a hitch (with Ubuntu 12.04LTS). Highly recommend.

    Let's start with the good:

    - Excellent build quality
    - Frustration-Free Packaging comes with convenient small case
    - Copes really well with HD Video and photos being taken continuously
    - Easily put into computer or laptop
    - Write and read speed extremely quick - better than expected

    And only two mere inconveniences:

    - The speed doesn't compete with San Disk Extreme (If you are a proper photographer, San Disk Extreme is for you)
    - Amazon's Jersey Merchant "Indigo Starfish" take a little longer than delivery estimate, so be prepared to wait one or two days more

To come up with any other bad points would be cruel, not least because there aren't any!

I made a great choice with this one. Hope you feel the same way!

First of all, let me say that Amazon offer an excellent price for this card and the Delivery was lightening quick. I do have a couple of issues though and am pretty sure that one of them is down to the card.
Firstly, I use this card (in conjunction with other Transcend ones) to record video using my EOS 550D and have found that despite the fact it is a Class 10 card my camera buffer fills up quite quickly and has stopped the camera recording on a few occasions. This seems to be random and not down to the card getting full so I am a little dubious as to if this card has a transfer rate equal to that stated. I certainly don't get this behaviour with the transcend units I have and one of them is a class 6.
Secondly, it seems to be card reader/computer sensitive by which I mean that my Mac would keep rejecting it with the two card readers I had (a Transcend and unbranded clear plastic one) and I had to resort to buying a Kingston Media Reader to get the info off the card. This worked but I never had this problem with the Transcends so I was a little disappointed.
I am sure it is a good card for Photography but for those out there using their 550D's for video making I would look elsewhere as you may well not capture 'that shot' you were looking for with this card.
It may well be an interface issue between the card and my equipment but the problem does exist (at least for me) so I can only give it three stars and suggest 550d film makes try other cards. Would be useful to know what cards they recommend.

Bought this sim card to go in my Sony WX7 and I have been really pleased with it - it has high storage capacity and because the digital camera has HD it does not lose any quality at all. I have had no problems with this SD card and it arrived one day earlier to Ireland than amazon predicted. Would definately recommend this!

No complaints. Only used the first of the two cards I bought once so far - the capacity is great but it means I don't need to change it often! Have filled one card once so far - it took a full week's photos easily and we were on holiday in the US so I was taking lots of photographs on a Nikon D7000 and saving them in RAW format. The download onto the Mac Pro Book was quick as was the download onto the other Microsoft PC we use. The picture quality seems good on both.

Arrived in 48 hours, well packaged. Formatted in camera and getting 20 m/b sec.

At this price for any non professional use this is V F M.

If you want a faster card then the

Sandisk Extreme Pro 95 M/B sec is the one to buy.

I have bought four of these cards for a trip to the US.

I will come back and update after the trip, but at the moment these get 10 out of 10

3 critères pour ce type de produit :
    la capacité de stockage (16GB, c'est amplement suffisant pour prendre des photos et permet de prendre plusieurs video full HD) ;
la vitesse de lecture pour la rapidité de la prise de photo (une PRO à 20MB/s est une bonne référence ; mais dur de faire la comparaison sur ce point).
le prix (et là, il est clairement dans les moins cher !).
