I have used a standard hob based pressure cooker before but these provide a whole new level of cooking options. I am probably late to the party, but glad I got here in the end :)
Although the various models basically do the same thing, I have to say the IP for me, has the most flexability and seems to be very well built. I think it was the first to come out or has certainly been around a while. Here are few things that I found when I was looking to to buy one of these pressure cookers.
1. Are accessories easily available ?
2. When using a glass lid (assuming the model you buy has one available) will all the non pressure options be available ? The PKPs safety features will only allow the browning function with the stock lid off. This seems to be a function of the latest model and took an age to confirm from the maker.
3. Are there different heat settings for the sauté/browning option ? PKP only has one, which is hot and I found quickly burnt. The IP has three.
4. What is support like from both manufactures and other pot users ?
The PKP is of course half the price but I found the IP to be of much better quality specifically the plastic handle, finish, and quality of the inner pot. The bowl/inner pot is also stainless steel rather than non stick (some non stick models have coatings that can flake off after a while) and having a 3-ply base can also be used on a hob unlike some of the other inner pots.
I have now purchased an additional inner pot and glass lid for the IP, which I would highly recommend!
Having said all that, I am sure either one will revolutionize and spur you on to more creative cooking, which is what the IP has done fo me. A highly recommended purchase, really glad I got one!

I watched some reviews online prior to purchase as I never used a pressure cooker before, I then got sucked in by the marketing thinking it would save me loads of time.
CONS:
1. It's not great if you are trying to make a thick sauce based dish (curry, bolognaises etc) as it will burn the sauce and automatically turn off before ever getting to pressure.
PROS: I think it's ideal if you just want to dump stuff inside and go do your own thing.. when you come back some time later, it should be finished and kept warm for you. In my opinion it only saves you time by not having to stand at the cooker and babysit the food, or if the dish usually requires many hours of cooking time.

My only problem is the inner pot is revolving as I stir (saute) so I have to somehow hold it. Also it does explain why the cord is short but it is a bit too short for me. It does take some time to get to pressure so calculate with this in mind.
Anyway I think it is great little thing.
As is the case for some kitchen gadgets there's a honeymoon period of heavy use, cooking multiple recipes. As a newbie to pressure cooking I was a little intimidated at first - you still have to release the pressure manually which results in steam (release it next to your cooker fan).
So far (1 month in) I've made sushi rice, risotto, pastrami, veg tagine, bolognese, leg of lamb, soups via the various pressure/rice/slow modes, including initial saute in the pan. Bolognese was a bit watery (adjust recipe) but all the rest were successful. Still to try porridge, I'm never going to make yoghurt with it.
It'll probably get used a lot over the winter, less so come the spring but it'll always be in use as a rice cooker at least.
PS There's a little plastic drip tray taped to the side - that's supposed to be there, don't throw it (and subsequently retrieve it from) in the recycling bin.
I bought this Instant pot as I heard a lot about the versatility of this product and that this can replace a lot of other products. However simply put this is an electric pressure cooker. The benefit is that this has a timer so you don't have to worry about monitoring the cooker. Additionally this has a keep warm setting which is helpful when you are not able to eat as soon as you have cooked.
