A compact and easy read
on 25 September 2013
A pocket sized guide book that contains a substantial amount of information for those travellers new to the city and want to see some highlights whilst on a short break.
There are 9 guided walking tours within the city all with appropriate directions and maps and 3 further excursions to places nearby for which you will need your own transport and are perhaps best suited for those contemplating a longer stay than 2-3 days. However this is not just a book packed with maps and directions, it also includes nuggets from Glasgow's rich merchantile, architectural, and social history and is well worth a read just for these aspects.
If there is one criticism, it is that this type of book can quickly become outdated when recommending places to eat or possibly shop/visit for in todays economic climate places can come and go quite quickly, or at the very least change their opening times, and it might be best to call ahead before setting out if you are thinking of visiting a particular location.
