*I voluntarily read a Review Copy of this book. All opinion stated are solely my own and no one else's*

This was a great book: with seduction, mystery, blackmail, betrayal and a sexy romance.

Jason's a famous poker player and he's being blackmailed. Is Skye somehow involved with whoever is blackmailing him?

The beginning was intense, exciting and kept me on edge. I got goosebumps when she entered the creepy locker rooms situated near the bus station. The characters were intriguing and their constant bantering throughout was very entertaining. Although, individually Jason and Skye were strong yet determined they surprisingly balanced each other out beautifully. The heat gently simmers between them from the moment they meet. I enjoyed the buildup to their relationship; it was slow and despite the circumstances: they worked together to build trust.

I enjoyed the book: it had lots of suspense. I was continuously guessing the blackmailer's identity but I liked the fact that the answer was blatantly obvious. At times, I wanted to know Jason's thoughts and emotions: it's a shame his POV wasn't included.

Although sone characters from The Careless Series are in the book it is primarily about Skye and Jason and can be read as a standalone.
Skye buys a storage locker that holds Intriguing clues to a man who's being blackmailed. Who's being blackmailed and who is the blackmailer?
When Skye meets Jason a successful poker player sparks fly immediately, they have a intense connection which leads to so much more.
Like the other books this is full of mystery, intrigue and danger it kept me guessing and in the edge of my seat till the end.
Another well written complex story.

this is a fab novella to go with the series. It is fab learning a little about ella away from denial and demand. This book has fab characters and an even better story. This book can be read as a stand alone but id recommend reading the whole careless whisper series. This author has a fab way of writing that just sucks you into the story and makes it very hard to put down. I cant wait for more in this series and from this author in the future.

Highly recommended

Although this ties in with the Careless Whispers Series, it can be read as a standalone. It sure piques interest about the secretive Ella.

Jason aka Red Bull is a self made millionaire through playing professional poker. He is the best player on the circuit and is either admired or resented for his success. He has a loving relationship with his parents but doesn't allow himself to get attached to any woman in particular. He makes sure that they know where they stand.

Skye works two jobs in order to achieve her goal in obtaining a law degree. She has a humble and honest life. Having been badly let down, relying or trusting anyone is not her forte. She is befriended by Ella who talks her into attending an auction where she might just make a quick buck!

Jason eavesdrops on Ella's and Skye's discussion about bidding for a unit and then makes sure that Skye notices him. Skye is taken aback by her reaction to him and decides that he is trouble with a capital T. It's just as well that they won't see each other again!

Skye is just about to give up on the value of the contents of her bid when the most unexpected item lands in her hand. She goes to investigate and realises that she might have uncovered something which spells danger and is unsure of where to go from here. She doesn't have long to ponder as Jason turns up on her door steps accusing her of being a blackmailer. It so happens that what she has just found and the blackmail are related. They now have to work towards gaining each other's trust.

Skye is introduced to the Poker world and learns more about Jason through the people within that circle. He is nothing like what she imagined. Jason is good at reading people and he suspects that Skye has been through some sort of ordeal.

This is quite a difficult review to write, I have always enjoyed Lisa Renee jones books, but this one somehow failed to grab me in some ways.
It is well written and I did enjoy it but, and for me it's a big but, I felt there was so much missing. I won't go into the whole synopsis I I think I will give away too many spoilers.
Skye wants to become a lawyer but needs funds to help achieve this goal, she attends an auction encouraged by her friend Ella and buys a locker which contains a locker key, in said locker she finds a poker chip.
Jason is a world class poker player being blackmailed about this chip as it could imply he has been cheating, with me so far??!!
Anyway the main story is trying to find out who the blackmailer is. The trouble is, so much is alluded to, mainly Skye's past but has she been abused, suffered terrible trauma ? well goodness knows because nothing is really explained.
The way the story was unfolding I really thought there must be a follow up book to explain and expand on everything, but no, everything was wrapped up in the last 5% of the book so felt really rushed and to be honest unsatisfactory.
That said, believe it or not I did enjoy the story just felt a lot more depth was needed.
But hey ho it was a happy ending, the relationship between Skye and Jason was good, and a host of other characters added to the storyline
Thank you net galley and publisher for a copy of this book to review.
