Review

"Bestseller Abbott packs a lifetime of thrills and suspense into a mere five days...Abbott excels at spinning complex webs of intrigue combining psychological twists and abundant action." "Publishers Weekly on Downfall""

"Abbott knows how to slowly ratchet up the tension while maintaining great characters and terrific plot twists...The Sam Capra series gets better with each outing, and Downfall is a "must read" for the action-thriller fan." "Associated Press on Downfall""

"Abbott is one of the best thriller writers in the business, and he delivers action and complex characters in an explosive cocktail. The next Capra novel cannot come fast enough." "Associated Press on The Last Minute""

"Like Adrenaline, this is a fast-paced thriller with a likable, morally conflicted hero. Sam is in a difficult situation, seemingly forced to commit murder to find his son, and--this is a testament to Abbott's skills as a storyteller--we really don't know whether he will follow through. The book ends on an upbeat note, giving Sam a certain amount of closure. Still, let's hope Abbott isn't through with Sam. He's a very well drawn character, and it would be nice to see him again." "Booklist on The Last Minute""

"Twisty, turny, and terrific." "USA TODAY on Adrenaline""

"[An] edgy, seat-of-your-pants spy caper." "Entertainment Weekly on Adrenaline""

"Outstanding . . . genuinely moving . . . Abbott hits full stride early on and never lets up. Readers who thrive on a relentless narrative pace and a straight line to the finish won't be disappointed." "Publishers Weekly (starred review) on Adrenaline""

"Extremely compelling . . . a thriller that will get even the most jaded reader's pulse racing . . . a grand slam home run." "Associated Press on Adrenaline""

"One of the best ongoing series in the thriller genre. Readers will be hooked from the start...INSIDE MAN jumps into the action right away, and the last 100 pages are downright terrifying. Abbott has a gift for creating great character-driven thrillers, and readers will clamor for more, especially given the cliffhanger ending." "Associated Press""

"Thriller Award-winner Abbott draws on Shakespeare's King Lear for his outstanding fourth Sam Capra novel...Abbott injects enough of Sam's back story to make his intricate plot believable, judiciously spices his tale with tasteful but usually interrupted romance, and convincingly makes Sam a genuine contemporary 'chevalier.'" "Publishers Weekly (Starred Review)""

"INSIDE MAN is a tightly controlled roller coaster of a narrative, goosing the reader forward with almost every paragraph." ""Austin Chronicle """

"Abbott's Sam Capra series represents some of the finest writing on the market, and the fact that it's squarely in the thriller genre-which means the story is fast and intense, and the stakes are stratospheric-makes Abbott one of the best writers out there, as his "who's who" string of awards (Edgar, Thriller, Anthony, Agatha, Macavity) can attest to...With dead friends, mysterious women, snappy dialogue and clever twists, this is stellar work from an accomplished, sophisticated writer at the top of his game."
"J. T. Ellison, "New York Times "bestselling author of "When Shadows Fall"""

"Lots of action and plot twists make this a literary roller coaster." "USA Today""

"Exciting and imaginative, full of action and intrigue. Abbott's writing raises the pulse, taking readers on a wild adventure." "Free-Lance Star""

Format: Paperback
The Inside Man by Jeff Abbott is the fourth book in the Sam Capra series which is exhilarating as much as it is exciting. Sam, a former CIA agent - has a debt, a debt of gratitude - to be repaid. Steve Robles, one of his closest friends, had once saved him and his family. He is determined to repay him in full. But before he could make good on his promises, Steve is dead, shot in the rain outside his bar in Miami.

Sam Capra is determined to find the killer and get justice for his murdered friend. With not much to go on except the young woman whom Steve met just before he was shot, Sam begins his investigation. Assuming the name Sam Chevalier, he soon he finds himself intruding deep into the affairs of the Varelas, sneaking into their compound in Puerto Rico, where Steve used to work a security job for frightened Cordelia Varela. The head of the Varela family Rey Varela is dividing his less than legitimate empire between his three greedy heirs. What Sam unraveled will undoubtedly destroy the Varela family but also threatens to destroy Sam himself.

Author Jeff Abbott is a master at hard boiled suspense whose novels are published in twenty languages around the world and include the massive international bestseller Panic. He won the International Thriller Writers Award in 2012 for his novel The Last Minute. With The Inside Man, he has continued his trademark suspense novel which is gripping and solid. He has added a touch of romance and Sam's background story to add flavor to this hugely entertaining and enjoyable story.

Having read all the previous Sam Capra books I was really looking forward to reading this one, and was not disappointed. I actually think this was my favorite Jeff Abbott book, and couldn't put it down for the 2 days it took me to read it. Would definitely recommend (as long as you have read the previous Sam Capra books)

Format: Hardcover
With the latest entry in the popular Sam Capra series we find Sam's life quiet and uneventful for a change. He's running a Miami bar, not making much but enough to get by and that's fine by him.....until the rainy night when his good friend Steve Robles is shot to death just outside the bar immediately following a meeting with a beautiful woman. It had been obvious to Sam that Steve was trying to protect her, but who is she and why?

Sam is in Steve's debt so the question becomes life or duty? No hesitating on Sam's part - he's seen the killers' car zoom off and he goes after them, placing his life on the line. Before long Sam finds the woman - she is mega wealthy Cordelia Varela, heiress to a shipping fortune. Head of the family Rey Varela is verging on incompetence yet still able to play his three children against each other - in addition to Cordelia there is son Galo whose gods are money and power and stepdaughter Zhanna who will stop at nothing to get what she wants.

In order to help the frightened Cordelia Sam insinuates himself into the Varela's luxe Puerto Rico compound where he soon discovers the family business is not all what it seems. That discovery and the uncovering of other family secrets may cost him his life as now the Varelas cannot possibly let him live. Thus begins a series of plot twists that will leave readers gasping as Sam fights against insurmountable odds including a minefield, a maximum security prison as well as countless guns aimed in his direction.

Author Abbott has pulled out all the stops with Inside Man, the fourth in his Sam Capra series, leaving readers wanting more.

Having read the series from the beginning, this picked up nicely from the last book.
You don't need to have read the others as back story is explained enough to get you up to speed, but you'd be missing out if you don't try the others!
Loved the exciting, adrenaline driven plot and can't wait for the next instalment.
Jeff Abbott creates interesting characters that you care about and twisty, clever, heart racing plots. A very satisfying read. I definitely recommend.

Out of all the Sam Capra plots I found this one less entertaining, but enjoyed the read.
The book though arrived within a few days of purchase and arrived in a very protective cardboard casing.
