Superb box set at excellent price capturing the early days of german space rock/prog rockers ELOY.At over 3hrs of music for this price you cant really go wrong, the only disappointment being the packaging, the cd's are housed in replice sleeves which carry no information re who played what or where, all housed in an incredibly tight cardboard slipcase which wont last very long.

So to the music, side stepping the bands debut(ELOY from 1971),this set contains the bands next 4 albums as follows,

INSIDE (1973) **** Excellent album with influences of Floyd/Hawkwind/Heep/Purple occasionally Tull(usually the vocal phrasing from Frank Borneman),the highlight being the epic 'Land of no Body' clocking in at 17 minutes .this release includes 2 bonus tracks,2 shorter tracks which bring to mind Heep circa 70/71.

FLOATING (1974) ***** by far the best album of the early 70's from Eloy, the title track once again evoking Heep circa 'Very Eavy Very Umble/Salisbury', while the superb 'The Light From The Darkness',another epic at 14mins or so,sounds like Deep Purple circa 1970/71,if you didnt know better ,you'd swear it was Jon Lord playing the keyboards! If you love guitar/keyboard driven rock then revell in the likes of 'Plastic Girl' & 'Castles in the Air'.This edition has 3 bonus live tracks, sadly no info as to where and when recorded.

POWER AND THE PASSION (1975) *** Arguably the most dated of the 4 discs here,a concept album about a boy travelling back in time, shorter tracks and more singing,so if Franks over powering accent gives you a problem, you may not like this much, that being said its still enjoyable in parts, the opening flourish straight from the E.L.

Another great pack from Eloy, 4 classic albums for the price of two. Eloy is a German progressive band in the same level of Pink Floyd and according to some of my friends perhaps even better. It might be difficult to believe but just slip in the album "Dawn" and you will be convinced by the music soundscapes, and composition ... 4 stars deservingly

HASH(0x9d7d2828) out of 5 stars Great audio, skimpy, non-existent packaging spoils the set though. 16 Feb. 2013

If you like Eloy or want to sample some classic "krautrock", this is an economical way to do it. I got this set, plus shipping for under $17. The four (not three as the description says) remastered albums each come on their own disc. Two of the albums (Floating and Power & The Passion) have bonus tracks. So far, so good. Then I opened the package. Each CD comes in a paper sleeve, with the album cover printed on the front and the track list printed on the plain white back. No liner notes, no musician credits, no additional anything. I bought this to upgrade my mp3 downloads of these four albums, but that was a waste. While the sound is a little better, no packaging at all was just as good as the little EMI provides here. This is the ultimate in cheap packaging. It's obvious that the album covers are going to get damaged every time you slide one of the discs in or out of the box, so at some point they'll be ruined. Buyer beware! If you're buying this as a budget collection, ok. If you're looking to collect early Eloy and getting ANY kind of information about the band or the albums, this is NOT the set for you.

A word about the music. This is classic era Eloy, where they built their reputation. Lots of spacey jams, with epic guitar solos and loads of lush keyboards. This is great stuff. It's amazing how well some of this has stood the test of time. I find it almost easier to listen to this now than I did as a teen, probably because I can appreciate the musicianship more. Great, progressive, hard rock.
