I'm just finishing wk 3, the changes in my body are coming fast, even after wk 1. I'm actually amazed! I'm 52 and have never felt so mentally and physically strong. It's hard work but sets me up for a good day!
If I hear Insantity one more time I'll go insane, better off going for a run tbh. Programs are intense but it does get boring and easy to loose interest. I also hate the fact they keep refering to this is insanity... Might work for some not for me.
I justified the cost of this as equivalent to 3 months' gym membership and it has definitely pushed me to exercise harder and better than the gym ever has. Assuming I use the programme again, I will have ultimately saved money. Month 1 is tough and Month 2 even tougher but if you stick in there and follow the instructions it gives superb results safely. There are good warm ups, stretches and cool downs and a great nutrition plan if you want to also follow that. I have lost over 1 stone over the full programme (Ideally I would have liked to lose 2) but I think I look as though I have lost more as I am much more toned and muscled and fit looking. It's important to note this is not a diet programme and in fact you may eat more than usual (just healthier) to keep your energy up. I am stronger and fitter than I have been in a long time. The instructor is very American and there's a fair bit of whooping etc through the workouts but if you can look past that then actually he gives good clear instructions. You work out to compete against your own last results rather than to keep up with bikini-clad hardbodies (although in the end you'll be able to keep up and better) and it is encouraging that the people on the video get just as sweaty and puffed out as me. It is really really hard but really satisfying as you see yourself improving each day. Overall I thoroughly recommend this as an effective workout programme if you're the sort of person who thrives with a challenge and being shouted at by the instructor to "dig deeper!"
i know looking at the cost of the package seems quite expensive, which is why it took me a good year to purchase this product, but definitely worth it! i used the money i had from xmas to get the dvd and i cannot express what a good buy it is! by far the best thing i have ever invested in! after one week you can notice the change in your body health and mind! i know its may sound cheesy! if your like me and can't be arced to go to the gym this dvd is what you need! its insane! the hardest workout i have ever experienced & all in the comfort of your living room!
I think this DVD is amazing. Unfortunately I am into week three and have pulled my achilles tendon, which has caused me to stop the hard workout. I am going to have to rest for a few weeks. I was just starting to notice a difference and have lost 1.5 inches off my waist. I am gutted that this has happened as I was focused and in the zone of getting up every morning to do this great DVD. It is well worth the money and I am looking forward to starting it all over again when my ankle is better.
This is a great workout! I wouldn't say that you end up looking like the fitness pros on the show but you do get a great deal fitter and feel as if you have fully worked out! A mat is needed and hygiene spray and cloth as you will be sweating! Well worth the money! Less than 2 months of my old gym membership and I never went there everyday!
I read loads of reviews before I bought Insanity because I wanted to be sure it would be worth the investment. It definitely is. There are a few things I wanted to put in a review to help others who might be unsure about buying it. It is not for beginners, most definitely not. I know some reviewers have said they were new to exercise but they must have iron determination to get through the workouts. There are no modifications in the workouts for the strength building exercises e.g. all push ups are from your toes and there are lots of them. I am 4 weeks into the programme and I still cannot manage all the repetitions. On the other hand if you've been going to the gym for years and enjoyed classes like Body Attack or Spinning you will love Insanity. It's so much harder than any class I've ever done but strangely enjoyable. You get a real buzz every time you make it through a class. It's also been really great for building my upper body strength, I have a shoulder injury and I have suffered with previous exercise programmes but all the exercises in Insanity use your own body weight and I've had no issues. I also read some reviews which said that people felt sore after the first few workouts. This is true, you will feel sore and it's a bit daunting starting another DVD when your muscles are still stiff, but it only lasted 2 days for me. The workouts include a LOT of stretching which prevents injury and prevents stiffness.
A couple of questions online I read were asking whether you had to follow the nutrition plan to get results. I am following it and I think you have to follow the pattern of eating 5 smaller meals a day just to have the energy to do the DVD after work. I read one review where he had tried doing the workout in the morning before eating and struggled. I tried this too and also struggled. You really need to eat properly whilst doing Insanity. That said, I haven't stuck to it 100% but the days that I do, I notice it's much easier. Also, I imagine that if you are very strict on the plan you could lose a lot of weight on Insanity but I'm mostly noticing that you lose inches rather than weight. Definitely measure yourself before you start. The only negative about the nutrition plan is that if you work full time, it's a bit of a pain preparing 4 small meals to take with you to work the night before. I imagine if you have children and work full time, or work very long hours, you would find it difficult.
Finally and this might seem a small thing, but I don't think you could do this workout too easily on carpet. Apart from the fact that (as gross as is it to say) you sweat an awful lot during the DVD, there are a lot of fast movements which I think would be hard on carpet with trainers on.
All in all, this product is fantastic and if you can commit to 6 days of workouts a week and the nutrition plan, you will get some great results and see a huge improvement in your fitness level. I was worried I wouldn't stick to it, I have no self discipline but I actually look forward to doing the DVD and shudder at the thought of not being able to tick off that I've completed another workout on the progress sheet. It's really well designed, the instructor is motivating and you should go ahead and buy it!
