I'm just finishing wk 3, the changes in my body are coming fast, even after wk 1. I'm actually amazed! I'm 52 and have never felt so mentally and physically strong. It's hard work but sets me up for a good day!
If I hear Insantity one more time I'll go insane, better off going for a run tbh. Programs are intense but it does get boring and easy to loose interest. I also hate the fact they keep refering to this is insanity... Might work for some not for me.
Definitely the hardest thing you will ever do. I love it and will use it over and over again without a doubt. Cheaper than a month gym membership and much better value. Not for the faint hearted and not for a beginner - it's incredibly hard and you will feel sick frequently due to the lactic acid build up. But you will also feel amazing (and sore) afterwards, and you will reap the benefits quickly - within 2 or 3 weeks (you do workouts for 6 days and have Sunday off). It's quite repetitive but the workouts are 30 - 40 mins for the first month rising to 60 mins towards the end, so they are very do-able. You will need a non slip surface to work out on as you do a lot of activities based around a press-up, and your hands will be incredibly slippery because you will sweat from every single pore you own. You don't need a huge amount of space but you will need to be able to jump up and down heavily without cracking the floor/ceiling underneath you. You will need probably about 8ft square or thereabouts in total. I didn't follow the diet plan but it is comprehensive and easy. I toned up loads and lost a few pounds regardless. Superb.
Prior to starting the Insanity program four months ago I had joined a gym. Problem with this was motivation to drive to the gym, do the workout (when not queuing for the machines) and general time consumption. However in October I started the program prior to spending Christmas in New Zealand. I wasnt too out of shape but I had a fair gut!
The program is hard. I was/am not the right shape to copy Shaun T and his gang and only break when they do. I went into the program, did what I could and every time I would try and push myself a little further.
In the first month the programs are roughly 40 minutes long. The warm up is 10 minutes with 30 seconds spent on different exercises and then repeated three times altogether. One day is a recovery day which is stretches. Not too bad and time wise just right. Also an ABS exercise. I had to be careful with this as each time the moves would hurt my back. Not sure if I was doing it right or not!?!
The second month there are different exercises and each program is roughly 55 minutes long. It is harder than the first month. Bit pointless if not! There is another recovery day with different stretches. TBH this the worst one. I found it quite boring.
Out of the two months I do prefer the second month.
So, does it work? Depends what you want!!! If, like me, you want to lose a bit of a gut and have a nearly flat stomach then its a big fat YES!!
If you want to look like the people in the adverts then I would be surprised!! However I would say that is probably down to diet on my part. My diet is not bad but could be better!
It is high impact on the knees and back. If either are dodgy then I would reconsider.
Shaun T is excellent at motivating you to push hard, push harder, you can do it! After a week, you'll want to hear him everyday. Which in a way, you must, as the workout is meant to be done 6days/week. And because you see results after just one week, you'll be pushed to work harder, or, as Shaun puts it, dig deeper. I think you must be moderately exercised before you tackle this as it is really exhausting. The first week you can't even walk down the stairs! And you sweat, sweat a lot. I like the fact Shaun reminds you to breathe, drink, check your heart rate all the time. Get yourself a good pair of crosstrainers, and if you're a woman, a good supporting bra. I'm in my 4th week and feel stronger and better. Thanks Shaun.
I thought this might be too much for me but you can take it at your own pace. Initially I was exhausted after just the warm up but after a month I can really see differences in my body and I can now do the whole workout - albeit with a few breathers! Sean T is a real motivator!
You get out what you put in - you really need to do the 45 minutes everyday but if you do - and be sensible with your eating you will see results! There is a diet planner which you can follow for even better results but I just use it as a guide rather than stick to it rigidly.
This is an awesome fitness program. It really challenges your limits so USE ONLY IF YOU ARE IN GOOD HEART CONDITION! The sessions are about 45 minutes everyday for six consecutive days and a day off.
The only drawback that I can see is that the [...] and the online supergym and support are only for US and Canada residents. Also the recovery formula which is important to consume after the workout is not available in Europe. I have replaced it with BCCA and Glutamine.
I am about to start month 2 and I am very pleased with the results so far, not only bodywise but also mentally it has really helped me to focus and take control of what I can achieve.
It does what it says on the tin , I sweet everyday no mater how many times you do this program it is never easy , you will always work hardand you get what you put in , this is no easy short cut to fitness this is HARD WORK
Insanity works just as advertised as long as you give it all you've got. I've lost about 4 kg in seven weeks (42yo, 183cm, 90->86) and I've never felt better in my life. My favorite exercise is the "max interval plyo" in month 2, you'll have to do over 200 push-ups (in 5-6 different varieties). I just can't believe getting this far in just a few weeks. If you have the motivation to get fit, can spare 1 hour everyday and have a place where you can jump up and down in a pool of sweat, you won't regret signing up for Insanity.
So, I'm 14 days into the program - and still hurting all over, but I'm really pleased to say that it is every bit as good as other reviews have said. What I like about it is, you can take it at your own pace; building up the full intensity as your fitness level improves - and it will, the body wants to be fit.
Also, the Pro-Grade Plyometric Jump Mat for INSANITY makes a big difference as does the Maxifuel Recovermax 750 g Orange Muscle Repair Drink Powder.
This is exactly what i was looking for!!! If you don' have so much time for yourself but you want to seriously work out, strength and cardio, this program is what you need!! After 2 weeks doing it, Ii feel so good. Of course you must do it everyday, no excuses! Your willing is fundamental.
I recently purchased the DVD set for a convenient workout. This workout is hard! you will definitely need to pause it at some point, it is tough but great. Stick to it and you'll look forward to your workout everyday! Nice job Insanity! P&P was very quick (even with the snow).
