Here's why it shines: although there are no pictures, the pages are nicely laid out and easy to read. The instructions are concise and easy to follow. There are no obscure ingredients that you have to hunt around for; they are mostly unfussy things that you will either have at home already or if you don't you can buy from most shops, which is great for when you only don't fancy braving the queues of a large supermarket. And most importantly, the ingredients work well together! There's a curious section at the end on how to "make more time for you" which I felt is a little out of place and the authors could probably have ommitted, but that is a small gripe really.
Some will say that the dishes seem a little too basic and if you are of this school of thought it is worth pointing out that with such few ingredients you are never going to produce a gourmet dish. There are other excellent cook books for when you have more time on your hands. But for those pre-pay-day / pre-food-shop days when the cupboard is looking a little bare, you have returned late from work and want to whip something up quickly without having to resort to microwave meals, this book is invaluable.
The shortcuts save a lot of time and money as the ingredients are so few. I thoroughly recommended it.
Speedy delivery by Amazon was great as I couldn't wait to get my hands on a copy, having seen the programmes on tv.
My opinion - it's absolute rubbish.
I don't need to be told how to make a pancake, cheese on toast or dip strawberries in chocolate. As for cooking an egg in an orange skin in the embers of a campfire come on your pulling my leg ....ar'nt you?????
If you can cook anything at all you do not need to buy this book. And OH there are no lovely glossy pictures either, I wonder why.
PLANNING to work out what meals & school lunch boxes for the week or fortnight then the Ingrediants & stick to the list when buying - You will have quick tasty meals in minutes
It also has party & BBQ
