This novel is the perfect choice for readers who like dark, realistic crime fiction set in the interesting period of the German occupation of Denmark.
I read the Danish paperback, and I am very pleased to see that the English readers get this opportunity to read one of our established crime writers.

good but obvious thriller, spoilt for me by the use of modern slang. i can't imagine wartime danes using the term 'sucks'.

5.0 out of 5 stars History Alive In Fiction... 26 Oct. 2012
By Randy Johnson - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Kindle Edition
I'd not read any of Langstrup's books before THE INFORMER and was quite pleased with the book. A bit of history unknown to me, 1944 Copenhagen saw most of the police force deported to concentration camps by the Gestapo and replaced by the Hipo, a hand-picked group of locals.

Sabotage Group BB is a resistance unit fighting the Hipo and the Gestapo.

Now there is a traitor in their midst, they realize, as the Germans are waiting for them on the last couple of jobs. Unthinkable.

The book is part mystery, part crime noir, an adventure as the froup go about trying to figure out the identity of the betrayer.

Loved this one and will be seeking more of Mr. Langstrup's work.

5.0 out of 5 stars Nail-biting Suspense in World War 2 14 Nov. 2012

I read this book twice, and I loved it both times. The Informer takes place in Copenhagen during World War 2. There is a traitor in a resistance group. They know that one of them is putting everybody's life at risk - but who is it? This question combined with some very vivid characters really made me turn the pages fast. I love crime books, but this is somehow more than that - like a brilliant mystery enveloped in a long gone world. Just read it - you won't regret it because you come out on the other side not only having been entertained really well, but also with insight in a piece of history rarely described in fiction.

5.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant 2. World War Novel 12 Oct. 2012
By Jesper Stein - Published on Amazon.com

A riveting pageturner from Langstrup about a snitch in Sabotage Group BB, a resistancegroup in Copenhagen in occupied Denmark in 1944. A dense, psychological and realistic thriller. Read it!

Best book I have read in a very very long time.
I love Steen Langstrups way of telling a story, and I find "The Informer" to be one of his best books by far ... It is a true page turner, and it keeps you guessing all the way to the very end...
Read it, read it, read it - not tomorrow but today. :)
