This album is the foundation of Journey becoming a world-wide success story, and rightly so. Steve Perry was a revelation in terms of voice, and especially the harmonic vocal parts on many of the tracks are in a world of their own. Tracks 1 to 6 are absolutely outstanding, instant classics due to tight, superb songwriting and immaculate performance.

The remainder of the album is lesser known to concert goers, however all tracks are masterpieces in their own right.

This album marks the kick-off for Journey's progression from talented insider tip to massive super-group of the Eighties. It heralded more quality albums to come, culminating in the timeless "Captured" live album. Get it, you won't regret it!

5.0 out of 5 stars Steve Perrys First Album with Journey! 8 April 2014
By ClassicRocker - Published on Amazon.com

Journey lucked out with picking out Steve Perry for Inifinity. The band was struggling the first three albums didn't do so well, and then they got a lead singer to go along with Gregg Rolie. This is also the only album Ansley Dunsbar is on, who was Journeys best drummer in my opnion(He also wrote black sabbaths the warning). This mixes 70s Progressive rock with pop layered vocals, kinda like what Styx was doing. I had many tracks from this album years ago but i got it for Christmas this past year, some of my favorite tracks are Wheel In The Sky, Winds of March, Anytime, Lights, and Feeling that way! I would recommend this album to any journey fan!
2.0 out of 5 stars Record plays okay but label is coming off on one side. 29 Mar. 2016

I definitely like the content of this record. The problem is that the record arrived in poor shape. On one side, the label appears to be detaching. It may have been exposed to moisture for a long period. Or heat.

The cover is just fine. The record plays good. I just don't like the fact that the label is detaching. I actually have never seen this happen. Not in 50 years.

If not for the damaged label I'd rate this 4 stars.
5.0 out of 5 stars Still a Great Album When I listen to it 16 April 2016

One of Journey's best albums in my personal opinion. It is the first Journey album to feature Steve Perry, whose arrival corresponds closely with the band's rise to international fame and mainstream popularity. The album features one of the band's best known songs, Wheel in the Sky, that features Perry's soaring voice and wide vocal range.

It is great to hear the songs from the past and Steve's voice. I would recommend this to everyone who is a journey fan and want to hear what they sounded like when Steve Perry was their lead singer. Awesome.
