About the Author

Jeanne McDonald began telling stories at the ripe young age of five, when her mother considered the truth to be a lie due to her extensive embellishment to the retelling of an event. She wrote her first short story when she was twelve years old, and at the age of sixteen she tried her hand at poetry. She reconnected with her love for writing in 2010 thanks to the encouragement of a dear friend. Her passions include a "mild" Starbucks addiction, music, reading, quotes, movies, and romance. When she's not spending time with her family, she can be found reading, writing, chatting with her friends or diligently working toward her bachelor's degree in English Literature. A proud Texan, Jeanne currently resides in the Dallas/Fort Worth area with her family.

Indulgence By Jeanne McDonald is the first installment for the Taking Chances series. It was a quick read, but although the word count was small it REALLY packed a punch!

Often with quick, dirty, sensual books something inevitably gets missed. The story is lacking, the characters are two dimensional or the timeline is rushed. Thankfully, Indulgence had none of these short story pitfalls. It is a well rounded romantic, erotic and at times humorous tale of a woman who is just like you or me.

I was quickly drawn into the life of Addison, and the events that lead her to a New Years Eve party, Indulgence. A night of sex without attachments or consequences is something she would usually read about in the novels of her favourite author, Sebastian Hawk. However, she finds herself smack bang in the middle of this fantasy, wanting to enjoy yet holding back.

This story had great flow and was able to develop strong characters in a short amount of time. I did guess Luke's secret early on, but the story didn't fall short due to this. I'll be reading part 2, Seduction, as soon as I can!

*I voluntarily read a Review Copy of this book. All opinion stated are solely my own and no one else's*

I enjoyed this short book: it was funny yet sexy and hot. Poor Addison was dumped by her ex for another man. Things can't get any worse when her ex wants her to be his maid of honour. Amber, Addison's friend, encourages her to attend an indulgence event on New Years Eve whereby members are masked, parade nude and shag like bunnies. She's nervous but is put at ease by a bartender: she's attracted to him and he is attracted to her but the rules prohibit staff from participating. Lots of mystery surrounds her bartender Luke, but as they explore the various rooms: the things Luke says start to make sense and the fog surrounding his identity lifts. Thoroughly enjoyed this book which had a unique narrative and throws you into a world of acting out your erotic desires.

Wow!! What a book, I couldn't put it down. I read it in less than a day because it was so engaging and thrilling to read.

Indulgence is about lead character Addison a year on from her separation with her husband who came out as gay. She takes a chance with her friend and attends an exclusive new year party thrown by erotica author Sebastian Hawke in his own house. Its a party for those who want to indulge and partake in something they may not in their everyday lives.

I love how Jeanne wrote this book, it was just enough to make me squirm and want more without being over the top. Her descriptions were enough to give you the image in your head of what was happening but not so much detail of the surroundings that it took away from Addison's story.

My only complaint, the book finished. I need and want more. I think this is a book that will be devoured and enjoyed by anyone who reads it. I loved it!!

I’ve read a fair few of McDonald’s books, and I have loved each and every one of them. I have to admit, that while I really enjoyed Indulgence, I much prefer her straight up romance books. She has a knack of writing emotion and UST that rips at your heartstrings. Not that Indulgence doesn’t do this, it does, just in a different way.

Addison is sexually frustrated, and who can blame her. Her ex-fiancee dumped her when he came out as gay, and she hasn’t dated since. She spends her time either working, at yoga (with her ex), or reading the steamy novels written by Sebastian Hawk. Her B.O.B gets a fair amount of usage when she reads them, but it’s not the same.

Enter Amber, the Best Friend, and an invitation to Indulgence, the sex party organised by Sebastian Hawk himself.

Hesitant about attending, Addison goes anyway, hoping to catch the eye of her favourite author after hearing a few rumours about him. Instead, she meets up with Luke, one of the barmen working the party. He pays her attention and takes her on a tour of the party before leaving her with Brix, her yoga instructor.

What follows isn’t pure sex, it’s emotion and longing done the only way McDonald can.

While Indulgence is a quick read, it’ll take you on a journey, with a twist.

I believe McDonald is writing more books to follow on from this novella, and it will be interesting to see where she takes these characters.

I was gifted a copy for an honest review

Let me start with saying WOW! Jeanne McDonald can write!

We meet Addison George, a woman that has forgotten who she is. She lost that "Bite" that she used to have because of a failed marriage. Lost in her romance novels, all Addison wants to do is get home and jump into one of her favorite authors, Sebastian Hawk's, books and escape the loneliness she feels.

Well, Addison has a fun and kinky friend Amber, that wants to revive that fiery redhead she knows Addison has trapped inside her. {Let me just say how much I loved Amber and would LOVE to read her story! HINT HINT!!}

Amber and Addison get invites to a very exclusive and very naughty New Years Eve party, Indulgence, and let me tell you I was with Addison on this one. The entire event had me nervous, excited, and so very very turned on!!

"Hosted by world-renowned erotic romance author, Sebastian Hawk, exposed anonymity is the name of the game. The rules are simple: all guests are required to remain nude for the duration of the event, except for a mask to hide one’s identity, and everyone must partake in at least one salacious delight."

Take an erotic tour of Indulgence with Addison, and if you're anything like me you'll feel the electricity pulsing in the room at the delectable, desirable and devilishly wicked pleasures of the evening ...

This was such a well written erotic romance that roped me in. I couldn't wait to read the next page. It got better and better. I found it sexy and intriguing. This is one book that I could read again and again. I simply can't wait for the next one!
