Excellent DVD, with lots of tasty recipes. Presenter is great to watch and makes your mouth water when shes making and eating her Onion Bhajiyas! Her Rice looks delicious too and is inspiring to watch her make these tasty dishes. Plenty for Vegetarians too, including an Indian Cheese recipe which looks scrumpious! At a great price, this DVD is well worth it for lovers of food/cooking. Includes a print off and keep recipe section.

According to the blurb on the Amazon page this DVD was released in 2009, but the date of filming is not mentioned (a recurrent problem on Amazon). From the stilted style of the presentation and the backing music it could easily have been produced in the 1970s, with Fanny Cradock as a role model, but Fanny Cradock was a much better presenter. If you can watch the programs without falling asleep, I suspect that the recipes are sound, although her naan made with baking powder rather than yeast looked very unconvincing. After Rick Stein and Jamie Oliver, it is just not possible to watch this kind of stilted Blue Peter presentation, a great disappointment and at £16.99, very expensive for a single DVD.

My guilty secret is that I've watched this DVD far more times than is strictly necessary to learn the recipes - I just love watching people make curry. There must be some kind of psycho-babble diagnosis for this condition. If you have it too, you won't be disappointed with this - plus, it's very good for actually cooking the stuff.

I've not had this DVD that long but I've tried all of the recipes (inc the meat, for which I substituted veg) and I can't recommend it highly enough. The tips Mridula gives throughout, like frying off all the moisture in the onions before adding your dry spices, like ensuring only warm water (not cold) is ever added to a sauce, etc, have improved my cooking generally. As the other reviewer has said, the Saag Paneer dish is beautiful - I've been cooking it once a week. And the onion bhajiyas are the best I have ever made. She also has a sympathetic no-nonsense attitude to chilli seeds (leave 'em in!)

I won't say Madhur move over - that would be sacrilegious - but please make room for Mridula in your cookery library.

I didn't feel it was value for money. Not enough recipes. Didn't inspire me to do Indian cooking, or order her book.
