There are some good puzzles in here, of course, but I agree with the previous reviewer - probably not for the beginner. As a regular Indy reader I'd agree that the puzzles are much more accessible now.

Giving this collection one or two stars is ridiculous. They are perfectly good crosswords, just not in the same style as the current Indie puzzles, though two or three of the compilers in this collection still write Indie crosswords. If you read the product description and know who the current compilers are, the difference is not too surprising.

An up-to-date collection of Independent crosswords is long overdue.

An excellent book of quality cryptic puzzles. The standard of difficulty lies somewhere between that of The Guardian and The Times, so definitely not for beginners! Each compiler has their own distinctive style so there is a good deal of variety within the volume. I very much enjoyed it!

Very difficult, much more so, than later years. The compiler seemed to think, like some compilers in the Times, that all solvers are experts, in numerous subjects. The comiler has something in common with The Guardian one.
