Blockbuster sci-fi thriller written and directed by Christopher Nolan. Dom Cobb (Leonardo DiCaprio) is a professional thief with a difference: the spoils he goes after are not material objects but the thoughts, dreams and secrets buried in the minds of other people. This rare talent has cost him dear, rendering him a solitary fugitive stripped of everything he ever really cared about. When he is offered a chance for redemption by reversing the process and planting an idea rather than stealing it, he and his team of specialists find themselves pitted against a dangerous enemy that appears to pre-empt their every move. The film won four Academy Awards for its special effects, sound and cinematography.
Acclaimed filmmaker Christopher Nolan directs an international cast in this sci-fi actioner that travels around the globe and into the world of dreams. Dom Cobb (Leonardo DiCaprio) is the best there is at extraction: stealing valuable secrets inside the subconscious during the mind’s vulnerable dream state. His skill has made him a coveted player in industrial espionage but also has made him a fugitive and cost him dearly. Now he may get a second chance if he can do the impossible: inception, planting an idea rather than stealing one. If they succeed, Cobb and his team could pull off the perfect crime. But no planning or expertise can prepare them for a dangerous enemy that seems to predict their every move. An enemy only Cobb could have seen coming.

Action fans will enjoy the fight in a hotel corridor where up, down and sideways change from moment to moment, and the 007-tribute snow mountain battle (clearly inspired by Christopher Nolan's favourite Bond film, OHMSS).
There are numerous and quite lengthy extra features, none of which I found particularly helpful or even terribly interesting. For those who want to know what you get for your money, here's the list:
--- Dreams: Cinema of the Subconscious - Can the Dream World Be a Fully Functional Parallel Reality? Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Leading Scientists Take You to the Cutting Edge of Dream Research
--- Inception: The Cobol Job - Comic Prologue in Full Animmation and Motion: See the Events That Led to the beginning of the Movie
--- 5.1 Soundtrack Selections from Hans Zimmer's Versatile Score
--- Conceptual Art, Promotional Art and Trailer/TV Spot Galleries
The cast are excellent, with Leonardo DiCaprio especially noteworthy. It's such a shame that he seems to spend so much of his time these days lecturing us all on the state of the planet while flying around on his private jet. However, more importantly, I've only given the film a four star rating! Perhaps, I need to watch it one more time...
So the reason I bought this on blu-ray is because practically all the special features are missing from the DVD version. And some of them are certainly worth watching if you are interested in behind-the-scenes explanations. There are some truly fantastic scenes and complex concepts in this film and the special features show how the challenging scenes are created and goes into some depth to explain the concept of entering another person's multilevel subconscious and what that can mean for the person being invaded as well as the person doing the invading.
