19 days. That's what it took New York band Vision of Disorder to record this album, and what an album it is. "Imprint" is a true metal, East-coast style. Okay, so there are hardcore leanings, but this is most definitely a metal album, of the top flight at that.
How such a masterpiece could be produced in such a short time is unbelievable. Musically, it has everything going for it: crushing guitar riffs, both complex and brutal (courtesy of Mike K and Matt Baumbach); first-rate bass work (Mike F) and absolutely incredible drumming (Brendan Cohen). Laid on top of these are the truly special vocals of Tim Williams: this performance has yet to be bettered by any other singer. He flows from head-shattering screams to haunting melodies seamlessly, furiously delivering lines of pure lyrical gold. The lyrical inspiration for the entire album came from an incident invovling thugs that left Williams face scarred (hence the title "Imprint"). As such Williams creative focus was on life, and the bitter truths of struggle and strife.
The quality of the musicianship, lyricism and production cannot be understated. Special mention must go to producer D. Sardy, whose work gives the album a very raw feel that really helps convey the aggression and power of the songs (this is especially true as the overly clean production of the bands debut album lessened its impact). The guitar sound in particular is perfect, all crunch and no sludge, and as such the excellent guitar work is done justice.
All these elements combine successfully on every song to create 45 minutes of the highest quality music.

i had to laugh when my hardcore (music that is...) loving boyfriend said that whenever he listened to this album he got sore ears. thats proof of what a little gem of an album this is. i said id give it a go since i had never heard of them, and oh what a treat! i swear i have been converted to the ways of vod. what a blissful combination of melodic downright agressive riffs and strained, harcore vocals. if u like stampin ground ull like this. NOW GO BUY IT ... dont worry if it gives u sore ears itll only b because ull b turning up the volume to feel the energy! :)

This second full-length release from Vision Of Disorder is produced by D. Sardy, and has a much phatter sound than their eponymous debut - the unstoppable riffs just tear right through you! VOD's style hasn't really changed much since the first album, but it has evolved; the songs are more straight-up & in your face - they still have loads of riffs in each song, but it kind of flows better on this album (before it sometimes seemed like they just went off on one for the sake of it). Every song on this album is great, all the lyrics come straight from the heart, and the music goes straight for the throat; and there's even a cool duet with the mighty Phil Anselmo from Pantera (By The River).
Not every song is intense every second though; both 'Colorblind' and 'Jada Bloom' flit between mellow and heavy with grace, and there's one or two other laid-back sections too... but don't let that put you off, you'll be getting pummeled for most of the time.
If you like VOD you'll love this album, if you don't like VOD yet - you should do.

WOT A RECORD! VOD CONFIRM THEMSELVES AS THE NO.1 HARDCORE BAND IN THE WORLD. TIM WILLIAMS IS AN AMAZING VOCALIST AND THE RIFFAGE IS OVERWHELMING. I MUST ADMIT IF U R USED 2 KORN ETC. THEN IT TAKES SOME GETTING INTO. BUT AFTER 1 WEEK IT WILL PERMANENTLY BE IN UR RECORD PLAYER. I USUALLY LISTEN 2 NU-METAL OR INCUBUS WHICH IS IN NO WAY LIKE VISION, BUT VOD R MY TOP BAND. CHECK OUT SLITHER BY EARTH CRISIS IF U LIKE THIS COS IT IS THE SECOND BEST RECORD IN THE WORLD, BEHIND IMPRINT OF COURSE!
