Crikey! I don’t think I’ve ever read anything quite like this.

Serenity was fighting the beast inside her, fighting to keep some of her free will. I could feel the pull her Master had on her and I could feel her internal battle to resist, yet she had a desire to succumb to him.

Vondorian was a brute of a Master who strived to gain control over Serenity. His demeanour was always intimidating, oozing confidence with dark powers ready to unleash against anyone who stood in his way. He had power, and that sense of power could captivate you and drag you under his control. He was very charismatic but he was also dangerous.

This is a book that packs a lot in despite being short. It sets the characters up well. The descriptions of how Serenity is feeling and the world they live in is very poetic. The author uses a prose that reminds me of watching the modern twists of classic vampire films. I’m not talking about sparkly vampires…nowt sparkles in this book. This book is dark and brooding very reminiscent of the film Interview With A Vampire.

Wow…is all I can say about this. I thought this would be a completely different genre to me that I would fail to grasp the essence of the story, but the author did such a good job, that I feel totally comfortable in this realm and look forward to the next book.

HASH(0x8bb9d1f8) out of 5 stars Mesmerizing and entrancing start to a new series! 11 Nov. 2014
By JC82 - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Kindle Edition
Oh I loved this, I REALLY loved this. Immortal Tempest is a very visual book, the descriptions are very fluid and enchanting. Sheats creates a very vivid world that Serenity lives in. Its majestic, dark, alluring, dangerous and tempting in all the worst ways.

Serenity is vampire, originally a mortal of a very legendary warrior clan of people called Opsona she is very different from the Vamdari vampires. A force to reckon with despite her Master, Vondorian's will to tame and own her. Serenity is conflicted between the dark force that she harbors inside her soul and the mortal body and mind that she once was, a mind full of guilt and shame at how she has become so easily controlled by Vondorian.

Vondorian concocts a plan to take over the Kingdom of Tenusta, Serenity's own homeland by tainting the walls within with his treachery and persuasion. Throughout the ordeal and carrying out of this plan. Serenity is in constant battle with her demon and her desire to give in and allow herself to be completely consumed by her Master. As Vondorian's lethal conquest continues Serenity will have face her biggest battle. The one for her soul.

This book is oh so good, it is absolutely fascinating in its delivery. I love the inner battle between Serenity and the creature that is a part of her. The duality and conflict is so intriguing, you feel her struggle and her ache to keep her will intact. But there is also something so delicious about giving in to the dark and that desire is there as well. Vondorian in all his devilish ways is devastatingly seductive and enticing. At some points in the book, I was literally falling into his spell just like the character. I found myself wanting Serenity to give in and at other times I wanted her to fight. I wanted her to show him how strong she was and that he could not control her. Vondorian is also ridiculously scary in a very sexy way, he is literally charming but deadly and he will capture you in his web of seduction and control just like he has with Serenity.

Serenity, herself is also quite a character. She is strong, tormented and determined. Her bravery and boldness with Vondorian is admirable. But there is something simmering within Serenity and when it unleashes it is one hell of a tumultuous force. The book hints to Serenity being more than what we know of her and what she may know of herself and I can't wait to see what the series will have in store for us to discover.

By the end of this book I was itching for more. This is a great start to this series and the book will have you entirely bewitched.

HASH(0x8bb9d630) out of 5 stars PRATR Review 1 Dec. 2014
By Shaunta Jackson - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Kindle Edition
I am an independent reviewer who received the book The Immortal Tempest from its author and Paranormal Romance and Authors That Rocks. Serenity was a teenager when she was kidnapped and her people where murdered leaving her the only one left. Centuries later she's her captors biggest assest thanks to the blood lure. However the lure hasn't completely killed Serenity's humanity which is how she fights the attraction building between her Master and herself.

Vondorian is Lord vampire of the elite vampire army he is also one of the oldest vampires ever lived. He gets what he wants when he wants it and no one stands in his way. Destroying a whole race of people is nothing in comparison to the grand plans he has in store and why he only saved his precious Serenity.

At first I perceived this book an young adult novel based on the beginning but it morphed into an adult paranormal romance. I enjoyed the storyline but I would have liked to know more of a timeline. It went from teenage years to centuries later and she's an adult. I would also stick with one persons perspective or if writing from multiple to do it throughout the book as opposed to the last few chapters. If these minor things were fixed I would look very forward to the next book from this author. Based on content I would recommend this book 18+. I give this book 4 Fangs.

HASH(0x8bb9d9fc) out of 5 stars All I can say is... more please! 26 Aug. 2014

Serenity has spent centuries with her soul divided. Her humanity wars against the monster that made her immortal while compassion struggles not to be overcome by a thirst for blood and destruction.

Chained to her vampire master by his blood; part of her being yearns for his sensual touch while the other struggles to withstand his sadistic attempts to seduce and control her.

Immortal Tempest is the first novella in the Opsona Journey. Setting the stage with a well crafted paranormal world where good wars against evil and humanity is caught in-between. The magic of the past has been lost to the dark ages and only a handful of humans remember the old ways... too few to withstand the magical beings in their midst.

With a well written storyline that introduces the main characters and a promising plot, I wasn't ready for the cliffhanger ending I knew was coming. Congratulations J.N. Sheats on capturing my attention with this dark and erotic new series.

HASH(0x8bb9dae0) out of 5 stars She had me at the prologue .... 8 Nov. 2015
By theb1tch - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Kindle Edition
She had me at the prologue.... Seriously ... That was enough to suck me in and make me want more.

A war is being fought... Has been fought... Forever...

I must admit, I do truly enjoy a great vampire tale, and this has the makings of an epic saga. Down side for me is that this is only a taste of what is to come. This is the tale in it's infancy ... We have barely begun, but I NEED more.

Immortal Tempest starts in the past, the day that everything changed for Serenity. Everyone in her village was murdered when she was only twelve years old. A terrifying 'plague' descended upon them and wiped them from the face of the world, Vamdari (vampire warriors)... They destroyed everyone and everything in their path, except for her... Though I rather suspect that she wished for death, longed for it perhaps. Now though, she is caught up in a war, and it seems that she may be on the winning team. Time will tell...
Serenity is trapped. She is a creature of destruction and a dealer of death. Some part of her hates what she has become, yet some part of her, some primal thing, actually enjoys her power. Vondorian, her Master, Lord of the warrior vampires known as the Vamdari, has sent his warriors on a very specific quest. The taking of towns is like a game of chess to Vondorian. Each one is a pawn, to be sacrificed in order for him to win his ultimate game. To that end, Serenity is sent to kidnap the only daughter of the Lord of Tentusa. Of course she doesn't exactly follow his instructions, which enrages him. No surprise there. She does bring him his prize, but she also causes a stir, which was strictly forbidden... Still, his plan can be salvaged, with a little work on his part. The poor child is just his newest game piece, to be shuffled across the board in the way that will be most beneficial to his long term plan. Will she help him? Will he succeed? Will Serenity ever be able to escape?
Serenity fiercely loves and fiercely loathes Vondorian. There is smoking sexual tension between the two, something that you will see very clearly as you turn each page. She is a challenge to him ... She hasn't quite relinquished full control of herself over to him (perhaps she never will), and I think in some ways, he really likes that about her. He enjoys the fight, the chase, although he completely believes in his ability to eventually wear her down. To destroy that final spark of humanity that she clings so desperately to. She is beautiful and fractured and strong and brave and so very, very afraid all at the same time. He is volatile, powerful, a frightening force, he is primeval. Cold and calculating.. Everything he does is about strategy, one more step toward his ultimate end game. Will he win? I hope not ... But who knows?

If you have triggers about violence or if blood makes you squeamish, this story is not for you. As for me? .... I can't wait to see what comes next. I thoroughly enjoyed this story, but it was over far too quickly for my liking. Bring on the next instalment.
