When I read the original first edition, I didn't think it could have been improved, but boy was I wrong!
If you have read the first edition then hold on tight, cause this extended version is going to blow your socks off!

Lukian Vlakhusha, King of the Lycans and captain of the Immortal Ops, a special military unit made up of shifters.
Back at HQ after a weeks R&R Lukian and his team are called to the conference room for a new mission. An elimination mission. These never sat well with the men but they did as they was ordered. (Well....normally they did as ordered). When Lukian was handed the file, and saw the picture of the female he knew straight away something was off, that it didn't feel right, and it took everything in him not to stand and shout MINE!! which shocks him to the core.

Peren Matthews is on a night out with her two best friends, but what she actually gets is something she could never have imagined to happen. She not only gets set up by her girls, she finds herself on the run from werewolves, gets taken to a safe house, sleeps with a man she finds she can't resist, and to top it all off she finds out she's more than human.

This extended version gives you all that was missing and was wanting to know. It's still full of Mandy's humour, love, lust, great fighting scenes, sexual encounters and of course the all important HEA.

This book both appealed to me and frustrated me. I did enjoy the world that was created and the characters within it. It was well-written and a decent story. What frustrated me was that I wanted more from it. The interactions between the two main characters were a little lacking. I would have liked to see more of a relationship grow between them. If the events of the book were a little more spaced out and more of a connection developed between the characters, I think this book would be a five-star effort.

I did feel that the beginning was a little too long before we started getting anywhere. I'm glad I persevered because the book was worth reading. I'll definitely check out the next book.

I did not really enjoy this story. It was weak. It is about a military group of man-made shifters led by a natural born wolf shifter who is a king. He is sent on a mission to kill a woman who turns out to be his mate.

This is Immortal Ops as it was always meant to be! Over a decade ago Mandy Roth brought us super sexy alpha shifters fighting the good fight as an elite military group. Despite being military these guys have attitude and humor and quake only in the presence of their feisty mates. This re-release features a lot of new content but still has that sexy humor fans have come to love! If you are already an I-Ops fan the extended version is well worth the read and if you are new to I-Ops or Mandy Roth there is no better place to start becoming a fan!

Synopsis (from Goodreads): Captain Lukian Vlakhusha is having issues with his newest target, Peren Matthews. Something about her has left him staring at her picture and wondering what it would be like to touch her soft skin. When the time comes for the team to strike, Lukian senses danger and aborts the mission. He makes an attempt at meeting Peren and is set in his place by an independent young woman who knows what she is, and isn’t, looking for in a man. Lukian is having trouble telling Peren that he’s what she fears most, a werewolf. Can they make the passion that burns between them last, or will Lukian’s condition be too much for Peren?

This is the first book in the Immortal Ops series, though not the first one that I've read, and I can say that it is better to read them in order! There are several linked series and they have cross over characters, but I would recommend starting with this one.

There was good chemistry between Peren and Lukian, but the two of them didn't just focus on that. Peren had her past to keep in check and Lukian was in the middle of a mission, even if it turned out that his mission wasn't quite what it should have been.

I found myself making theories about who was behind the orders, and who was behind the attacks on Peren, and while I was partly right about one tiny detail, the actual reveal took me completely by surprise (in this was I wasn't spoiled by later books, particularly because there was no doubt that Peren and Lukian would end up together).
