Imajica is one of my favorite books of all time, this will be the 6th time I've bought a version of it (and that's only because we're living on the other side of the world from the rest of my collection right now and I want to read it again in a non-digital format).

Do not buy the kindle edition. It is full of spelling, grammatical, and formatting errors. There is barely a page where there aren't missed speech marks or missed line breaks for speech. Characters names are spelled wrongly, capitals replaced with random punctuation marks; it is as though no one proof read it even in the most basic fashion before it was added to kindle. If I could work out how to get a refund for it I would. The story I love, but avoid the kindle edition and buy the book.

Only read this book if you like epic sagas. Imajica is heavy reading and very complex, I haven't read anything else like it.
This book is like 'Lord of the Rings' meets 'The Bible'.
Not my favourite book, but The greatest work of literature i have ever read.
Clive Barker excelled himself with this.
Impossible to outline the plot but here goes nothing.... its about a guy in a failed relationship attempting to save the world.
I recommend this book to anyone who likes fantasy .
its the ultimate escapism.

I have read this book several times over the past few years. It is an excellent novel.I recently purchased the novel in a Kindle edition. I would not recommend the Kindle version to new readers because it contains a number of spelling mistakes. In many cases where a word begins with the letters cl the Kindle edition shows the word as starting with the letter d.For example clear is shown as dear. There are words spelt in block capitals which I presume were meant to be corrected before publication in Kindle. There are words that are plainly not in the original paperback book.I have purchased several books in Kindle and intend to used this method in future because I think it is the best way to purchase books. If I were Clive Barker I would ask Amazon to check the book and reissue it .
Anyone buying the book in paperback should check that it contains both parts of the Imajica. The book has been published in two parts in the past.
The book is excellent but buy it in paperback in an edition with at least eleven hundred pages.

I once read someone's 'droll' comment that this book is so bad that they, due to its admittedly intimidating physical presence, reincarnated it as a doorstop. Whoever made this comment has clearly missed the point. Imajica isn't a conventional novel, with a streamline plot. What Barker has done here is more complex than that. He has provided us with an experience, not a novel. He writes with such unalloyed enthusiasm that a few syllables bring his worlds to life. Worlds that demand coming back to again and again to look at in a different light. Do not take my word for it, though. Buy this book, a masterpiece awaits.

I bought the first edition of this book upon the recommendation (would you believe) of a friend who is a stage magician who rates it as the best he has ever read. I paid more for the book than I intended, which is a bit irritating, but only a few pages in and I have already dazed by the great use of language and concise enunciation of profundity.

Yes, I know that people really shouldn't post reviews of books that they haven't read (I am up to page 6) but I have never been disappointed. I can always tell when stories attempt to draw in the reader in a way that is really contrived. We can say that this review is on behalf of a friend, and my own intuition; the book just has to be good.

I was out stargazing on what has been an enchanted night, and was in lack of a certain story - only to remember this gem that has been decorating my book shelf for ages -

Oh, another thing, I think that people who write negative reviews on things like slow postage or physical quality of books are irritating as hell, and quality is not at issue here - well that is why I left it till last. Beneath the dust cover is a wonderfully bound book, white with lots of stars and planets indented, and the spin is black (covering enough of the cover to be able to avoid staining the white) with silver leaf text. This was worth every penny of the 30 odd quid that I paid for it, though looking at how cheap some of the editions are, I probably should have gone for thrift.

I have to admit, I was apprehensive, as this was the first of Barker's novels I had purchased. It is honestly one of the best books I have EVER read. His portrayel of the Imajica and its characters is simply incredible, and the novel with touch you at such depths you wont be able to put it down! A definate must for anyone who loves their fantasy fiction!

This book is truly outstanding. There's a debate regarding if it's his best; I was leant it originally by a friend in my 2nd year at Uni (in the 90s) and actually read it (which says a lot about how gripping it was!). At that point in my life, I had an attention span that was best measured in seconds!
