Best dehumidifier we have purchased and we have brought a few!! We have brought smaller portable ones but this one does the best!!! We are drying out our Victorian house and this does to a T.......yes a few have said its noisy and heavy to more room to room but all I can say is that yes it's a bit noisy and heavier but it does a brilliant job and took the damp from our walls on the inside within 2 weeks!!! ( and our walls were wet for 10 years and covered in cement) do I recommend this Yes and we are going to buy another 1 👍🏻

This dehumidifier was bought to replace another which we bought at Lidl, but gave up after 30 months use. So I have something to compare this Igenix unit with.

I have updated this reciew as the performance of the Igenix has improved. It extracts humidity at an extremely good rate and quickly fills its bucket. With a humidity level of 70% at an ambient temperature of 17c, the Igenix will brim its reservoir in around six hours.

There are two drawbacks with this machine: It is quite heavy so difficult to take up stairs, plus it is noisey.

Gets absolutely tonnes of water out of the air and fills up the container very quickly, great for having in the laundry room and around to house to prevent dampness.

I bought this dehumidifier a while ago and, oh boy, it was a hell of a purchase. Although I live in the south of Portugal, during the winter we have a lot of humidity. My daughter has no respiratory problems during the end of the spring and summer, but during the winter or even on later autumn it’s a disgrace. We went to the best doctors and tried many sophisticated treatments with no results. Our house is properly heated during winter, but humidity was an issue. We had 3 dehumidifiers but they’re not comparable to this one, we just dial this one to 50% humidity (if it’s to much dry you’ll get a sorrow throat) and she’s not having any respiratory issues. The only complaint we might have is due to the noise. When the desired humidity is reached, the compressor stops working, but the fan won’t stop. We are already used to the noise, but some might find it annoying during bedtime. I have a weather station with sensors inside my daughter’s bedroom and the humidity dial level of the machine is accurate. The water tank it’s easy to take off and put on. It’s not the most beautiful machine but who cares... It just works flawlessly as required!

This is a good dehumidifier for the brief time I used to to get any moisture out. It sucks out moisture really quickly - more than I was expecting.

I'm not sure if I had a faulty unit or faulty design, but after a while the unit rattles when there is water in the tank and the oscillating fan vibrated so loudly, that even though it was downstairs on thick carpet, it could be heard all through the house (and its not a small house).

Reluctantly, sent back as the noise was too much and you couldn't sleep or have it in same room as watching TV, I expect noise from the fan whirling round, that was OK, but the vibration and case rattling was just too much.

If you need a dehumidifier, I'm guessing its because you've had a pipe leak, or there is a problem that needs addressing - for instance rain coming through the walls.

This dehumidifier isn't perfect, but I'll get to that in a bit.
The main thing is that this unit does what it is supposed to do.
We had a leak that had gone undetected for who knows how long. I had a yellow Ebac unit which was fantastic. That got around 8 litres a day.
This unit is getting between 16litres and 20 litres a day.
It does correspond to the wattage of the unit - this is about 750w, so costs about £2.50 per day to run. The Ebac is about £1 per day to run.
So the yellow Ebac, for its rating is a great unit, but this IG9805 blows it out of the water.

OK - so I can guarantee this is a better unit - than most if not all domestic units. I've seen industrial dehumidifiers with the same rating as this one for 3 times the price when I was looking for dehumidifier.
This unit definitely is faster at getting water out of the air, or your washing, or walls etc.

Now for the heads up:
-The water container holds 8 litres which is quite impressive. Unfortunately its a bit messy to empty - as in it would have been better if (like the yellow Ebac) it had an almost closed tank with a small opening to pour out the water. This one - you pour out the water and it comes out from both sides so there will be splashes.
-The handle to hold the tank with seems to be a bit of an afterthought. I wouldn't trust it with the full 8litres of water after a few months, but it might be ok.
-Its noisy - don't even think about putting it in your lounge or bedroom. This is in our kitchen and when it is on the top speed, you know about it.

This is a powerful dehumidifier housed within a relatively small unit sized 600x388x282mm. It is however very heavy (20kg) and, although fitted with casters to make movement easier, the weight will make it tricky should you need to move it between floors of a house. The fan is also fairly loud and runs constantly even if humidity falls to the level you wish to achieve.

* Setting up

Important Note: after removing from the packaging you need to stand the dehumidifier upright for a minimum 3 hours to allow the refrigerant to settle. I was aware of this requirement as a previous owner of dehumidifiers but the warning is the last of the safety instructions listed and could easily be overlooked.

Remove blue tape holding the bucket in place and the drain hose from inside before you switch on.

* Control Panel

The control panel lights up as soon as the dehumidifier is switched on and provides information about the temperature and relative humidity of the environment. Note that the temperature needs to be at least 10C to enable the unit to work well and it shouldn't be used at temperatures below 5C (and wouldn't be effective below this anyway as the vapour you wish to remove will be condensing on your windows).

There are warning lights to empty the water tank and alert if the temperature falls below 12C, as well as controls to vary the speed of the fan and set the timer.

* Noise

All dehumidifiers make a noise and this one generates 55db although that's with the fan set to its highest level; it is a little quieter on the lower speed. Even so, it's louder than the noise my washing machine makes when spinning. It is however constant rather than varying in pitch, which helps it to fade into the background a little.
