Why you should choose Igenix
This Igenix Portable Dehumidifier has a stylish and efficient design which means you get the high performance expected of all Igenix products. The IG9805 helps to protect your home or office by efficiently and effectively controlling the humidity of the room. The unit is also portable, meaning it is not confined to just the home or office but can also be used in a conservatory, garage or outbuilding.
The easy-to-use LED display panel shows the current room temperature and allows you to adjust the humidity setting and fan speed, as well as indicating when the Frost Protection function is in operation and when the water tank is full. You can also control the timer, which ranges from 1 to 24 hours making this unit even more flexible and convenient.
Why do you need a dehumidifier?
Air contains a certain amount of water in the form of water vapour that is known as humidity. The capacity of the air to hold water vapour increases with the temperature. This is why in our homes, as soon as the temperature decreases, the vapour contained in the air condenses leaving moisture on the colder surfaces in the room such as the windows and the walls.
The purpose of a dehumidifier is to remove the excess moisture from the air to control the condensation within the home, something which the IG9805 does to great effect through using the clever features instaled in its top of the range design.
This continuous drainage option saves you from having to emptying the tank regularly. It works by fitting a 13 mm diameter hose into the appliance and feeding it to a suitable drainage point.
The efficiency of the dehumidifier can be affected when operating in temperatures less than 12 degrees Celsius, which is when the Automatic Frost Protection function kicks in to prevent the accumulation of frost. The indicator light will automatically illuminate so you can visibly see when this is happening.
This model has a lightweight rotary compressor, making it easy to manoeuvre on its casters. This means you can enjoy the benefits of this dehumidifier wherever you go.
- If temperatures in the home are below 10 degree Celsius for prolonged periods, low level heating will be necessary for effective dehumidification to take place.
- It is recommended that this dehumidifier is to be used in rooms that are sized up to 75 m².

I have updated this reciew as the performance of the Igenix has improved. It extracts humidity at an extremely good rate and quickly fills its bucket. With a humidity level of 70% at an ambient temperature of 17c, the Igenix will brim its reservoir in around six hours.
There are two drawbacks with this machine: It is quite heavy so difficult to take up stairs, plus it is noisey.
UPDATE. September 2017
The price for this appliance has gone up from the £179.99 I paid for it last April, to £300.48
This dehumidifier isn't perfect, but I'll get to that in a bit.
The main thing is that this unit does what it is supposed to do.
We had a leak that had gone undetected for who knows how long. I had a yellow Ebac unit which was fantastic. That got around 8 litres a day.
This unit is getting between 16litres and 20 litres a day.
It does correspond to the wattage of the unit - this is about 750w, so costs about £2.50 per day to run. The Ebac is about £1 per day to run.
So the yellow Ebac, for its rating is a great unit, but this IG9805 blows it out of the water.
OK - so I can guarantee this is a better unit - than most if not all domestic units. I've seen industrial dehumidifiers with the same rating as this one for 3 times the price when I was looking for dehumidifier.
This unit definitely is faster at getting water out of the air, or your washing, or walls etc.
Now for the heads up:
-The water container holds 8 litres which is quite impressive. Unfortunately its a bit messy to empty - as in it would have been better if (like the yellow Ebac) it had an almost closed tank with a small opening to pour out the water. This one - you pour out the water and it comes out from both sides so there will be splashes.
-The handle to hold the tank with seems to be a bit of an afterthought. I wouldn't trust it with the full 8litres of water after a few months, but it might be ok.
-Its noisy - don't even think about putting it in your lounge or bedroom. This is in our kitchen and when it is on the top speed, you know about it. And it also heats up the kitchen - got it upto 29C according to the display (which is quite accurate)
-The humidity display is also very accurate - when we opened the kitchen window to cool the area down on a rainy day, the display went quickly from 40% to 55%.
-The electric cable is very short. It wouldn't have done any harm to add another 50cm or even 1meter.
-Its a tiny bit of a pain having to switch off the unit completely when emptying (as in the instructions) and then the settings have to be reset - which can take all of 5 seconds.
-Remember to not use the unit for 3 hours after moving it around as it has refrigerant that needs to settle.
All in all - it does what it is supposed to do, and does it well for a reasonable price. A few niggles but well done Igenix
I'm not sure if I had a faulty unit or faulty design, but after a while the unit rattles when there is water in the tank and the oscillating fan vibrated so loudly, that even though it was downstairs on thick carpet, it could be heard all through the house (and its not a small house).
Reluctantly, sent back as the noise was too much and you couldn't sleep or have it in same room as watching TV, I expect noise from the fan whirling round, that was OK, but the vibration and case rattling was just too much.
