Product description

"It is a beguiling alternative chronology which offers succour to those Scotland fans who have long been starved of glory while their greatest rivals reminisce about 1966 and all that. Predicts that Scotland would have triumphed in the inaugural World Cup, if only officials had shown the ambition to take part." --The Scotsman

"Followers of the teams involved in this 'alternative history' may be intrigued by the hypothetical outcomes." --When Saturday Comes

"Suspend reality and this is a book that works, with a very accessible style and it has a strong factual background." --Programme Monthly

"It's a great idea, really well written." --Martyn McLoughlin, The Scotsman

"Blends factual history with a fictional description of how matches might have turned out." --The Courier

"The innovative concept drives the entire book. Each event is shown in great depth and you can visualize, even feel the events unfolding. The end result is literary brilliance and an entertaining read from cover to cover. It's something different and that is reason enough to buy it, but great stories and a knowledgeable author absolutely seal the deal." --International Soccer Network blog

"Simon Turner's superb, thought provoking book takes the reader on a fascinating journey. Greatest ability is his attention to detail and his descriptive powers that will ignite the reader's imagination. Each chapter is peppered with interesting facts bringing the characters involved to life. Will inform, fascinate and provoke thought in equal measures." --itsroundanditswhite.co.uk

About the Author

As a long-suffering supporter of Walsall Football Club, Simon Turner has witnessed countless 'if only' moments over the years. He lives in Lichfield with his wife Val, daughter Ellie, who has the good sense to follow athletics rather than football, and son Edward, who deliberately annoys him by supporting Aston Villa.
