Not having Sky, I didn't get to see this series, but from what clips I've seen online convinced me I had to make this purchase. On its arrival I watched just the first episode and realized I hadn't laughed 'so hard' in ages. When you're listening to Karl Pilkington speak you think he could never make you laugh so much, but then he says things that you just cannot stop yourself from laughing at even if you tried. I found myself laughing harder at Karl than at some of the top comedians out there.

Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant send Karl all over the globe to experience anything from `deep sea trawler fishing' to `bungee jumping', to `sumo wrestling' to `wing walking'. He visits everywhere from China to Peru, to Alaska to Japan, covering parts of the world's cultures still practising ancient traditions and cuisines that we wouldn't normally get to see. But most of what has been agreed he'll be doing on his expedition is all a deception. He is plunged completely out of his comfort zones and is expected to do whatever Gervais and Merchant throw at him. For example, Karl is told he'll be swimming with dolphins in Australia, but ends up totally off track to be humiliated in Thailand, and when he finally arrives in Australia he finds himself submerged inside a cage with a circling great white shark eyeing him up.

Hilarious as these pranks are, this series is not just about Karl being sent around the world to be laughed at, it's also an insightful travel documentary series that is very funny at the same time. If you haven't seen it or ordered it yet I urge you to do so, and Blu-ray is the best way to experience it. The picture quality is great with glorious detailed scenery and every bead of sweat is picked out on Karl's perfectly round head.

I absolutely love this show I can watch it all over again, I even follow Karl and his quotes, his biggest fan who came up with his quotes on twitter and ofcourse Gervais on twitter. BUT! I have problems understanding Karl's accent so I was a bit gutted with the season 2 disc as the subtitle isn't available. Had to rewatch it,but not complaining really. Just a bit funny as it is available on the Season 1. Brill show nevertheless!

There are so many reviews so I will just say this is a very entertaining and funny set of travel programmes.
Karl is a reluctant traveller and in series one he is sent to see the seven wonders of the world. The places he goes to are interesting from the comfort of a sofa but best of all are the comments by Karl.
Some of the places Karl is sent to look really rough to me and it can be a bit uncomfortable to watch but always informative and entertaining. The thing that holds it all together is the very funny comments from Karl.
Great little series and I would easily watch it again. This is a good DVD set of eight programmes and brief extras.
There are subtitles for the hard of hearing but no audio description.

Karl Pilkington is also on great form in the second series of An Idiot Abroad. After the brilliant first series, there was always the fear that a second series would not work as well. But there was nothing to fear because this is a very enjoyable series.
This time he has to choose a bucket list of things he would do before he would die.
Predictably things are not quite what they seem and Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant have surprises in store for Karl.
Its interesting seeing the places Karl goes to and its equally interesting seeing the things he does. And it is very, very funny in places. Karl is naturally funny and the series is a joy to watch. I had to pause the DVD a few times because I found it so funny. There are even funny things in the extra special features.
Unlike series one there are no subtitles for the hard of hearing or audio description for the blind.
This series is easily as good as the first and by the end of it I wished there was more. Therefore I hope there will me further series in the future.
This is a very entertaining and funny series. Excellent.

It's such a great series and the good thing is that it doesn't try to be funny. The main reason behind all the comedic value is purely down to Karl Pilkington being such a likeable character that oozes with natural comedy. It's pure British comedy and it's the witty remarks that he gives under the situations that he's in that makes this such a good purchase. I never even watched it before buying it and now he's like my role model ;) You'll love him too and you'll love this DVD. It's also packed with extra features too (:

My brother recommended that I watch an episode of what he said was the funniest thing he had seen in years, i doubted i would like it at first because he has a different sense of humour than me, however, 2 minutes into the first episode, tears of laughter were running down my face, i knew then that i had to buy the dvd- watch it over and over- so funny.

Idiot Abroad has got to be the funniest documentary I have ever seen in my entire life. I have yet to meet anyone that doesn't end up crying with laughter at Karl and his One-liners.
My personal favourite episodes are when he treks the gorillas (Watch out for when Karl falls down a hill..'Oh f***in' ell! Argh ya tw**! Don't talk to me, just don't talk to me!!' or when he visits Rio and is looking around Celso's kitchen 'Right I'm cooking, I'm cooking. I need a garlic, an onion - is it the fridge? No it's on the floor WITH A COCKROACH NEXT TO IT.'
I'm actually chuckling as I type this, I bought the dvd box set for my dad as I watched the entire series on Sky but now I think I shall purchase the dvd box set for myself. FYI - series 3 is no where near as funny as Warwick spoils it and Karl comes across as a grumpy old man who isn't humerous.
