Dr. Mani has woven a story that motivates and makes you question, all while enjoying a simple adventure story. Obviously, a lot of thought went into crafting this story.
I highly recommend it, especially for younger people who may be in need of some guidance in life. This book will open your eyes.
What makes this story unique is that the protagonist, Adrian, is an 'ice drop' (like a frozen drop of water). At least, he starts out that way.
Throughout the book, from start to finish, you follow the adventures of Adrian the Icedrop, and each section (and each adventure) conveys life lessons in sweet, engaging ways.
This is a really novel (no pun intended) book for several reasons, not the least of which is considering the life cycle of water drops, using an ice drop has a main character, and the author's imagining of what it would be like to be that ice drop / water drop / vapor drop, at each stage, and with each adventure encountered. He does a great job of imagining what every step of the way would be like for his main character, and then putting a voice to it!
Highly recommended for people of all ages - from the youngest child to whom you would have to read it, to the oldest - there's truly something for everyone in this book!
I was already familiar with Dr. Mani's work as a leading philanthropic pediatric heart surgeon in India, and his foundation through which life-saving heart surgery is donated to children whose families otherwise would not be able to afford it. He does amazing work, making a real difference in the lives of many children (and their families), and so I jumped at the chance to read a book written by him! It's lovely that he's written about the cycles of life, much like the journeys that the children he has saved will be able to have because of his donating his time and expertise to provide them with... well... life!
I found this evening length book to be a relaxing and satisfying read.
I received a review copy and this is my completely honest review. I absolutely love the book.
Lesson One ~ A reminder to be grateful to the 'Universe'. Aren't we all, a part of it ?
Lesson Two ~ The writer has taken a tiny speck of the large natural surrounding bound with energy. He's made this little speck abound with energy to be able to think. I found another reminder telling me I have a purpose, for being here. It further told me that I possess the ability to do what I have set my mind to. [ We often refer to what's left after utilizing natural energy as waste].
Lesson Three ~ To realize within each and every one of us how much untapped power we've got - that's going wasted.
When that happens one cane be certain of having the reached the stage of becoming 'EVER so GRATEFUL to the mighty UNIVERSE - one is part of !!
A book that every one should read, to be galvanized into the get-set mode & then, GO!
Best wishes to Dr. Mani for "The Icedrop".
