Product description

Review

A masterclass in plotting, atmosphere and character that finely balances shocking twists.' The Times Crime Club

"The pacing truly brakes for no one, and fans of thrillers will appreciate the speed at which this novel moves. Kjell Ola Dahl also creates some very quick-moving action sequences, so The Ice Swimmer has far more punch than your standard whodunnit. It's nice to see an active, human, female lead get to participate in these sequences as well. The Ice Swimmer is a fantastic addition to the Oslo Detectives series, and a worthy stand-alone. Pick it up for an engaging, diverting read!" -- The Crime Review

"The Ice Swimmer has positive similarities with the first book published by Orenda Faithless. The tale is a police procedural with a touch of psychological thriller. The tension builds steadily and Kjell Ola Dahl takes his readers the complex way round his imagination however the chapters are short making it easily manageable for bedtime readers. Kjell has a great skill in balancing the story with getting to know his detectives deeply which I really like." -- Nordic Noir

'Dahl masterfully leads his readers on a journey of misdirection.' The Quiet Knitter

'A slow-burning and subtle story. Bibliophile Book Club

'While he has long been one of the mainstays of the Scandinavian crime genre, the veteran Kjell Ola Dahl has (in this country at least) not quite captured the readership that is his due and that some of his less talented colleagues have enjoyed. The Ice Swimmer will hopefully right that egregious wrong, particularly as the translation here is by the doyen of the Nordic noir genre, Don Bartlett... Very persuasive on the level of the plotting, The Ice Swimmer also manages to incorporate social commentary - a sine qua non of the Scandinavian crime genre.' --Crime Time --This text refers to an alternate kindle_edition edition.
